Another black life senselessly taken. Another horrific crime caught on camera and questions still pop up on whether he could've done something to avoid this situation. I saw this particular image about running with Maud and I was drained, tired, over it. I understand the sentiment but how much longer can we continue to do empty social media challenges and gestures in this time? Running won't bring Ahmaud back. It won't give his relatives a sense of peace because their brother, son, uncle, nephew was carelessly and unnecessarily taken from them. Plans of action need to be drawn up and executed. Now is the time that we say enough is enough. I don't have these answers but I am willing to do what is necessary to try and come up with some of them so that we can stop being victims and stop accepting these senseless murders on our people. I am not knocking the gestures created in these moments of mourning. I do hope that those of you that do partake in the run for Ahmaud use that time to think about what it is that we can do as a community to protect ourselves and fight back. I pray for Ahmaud and his family and everyone whom has senselessly loss their lives or a family member or friend to white people taking the law into their own hands.
