Hunter nodded, taking off his shorts with one hand. “Yep, Zelda needs comfort right now, that’s very clear. You don’t have to eat it if you don’t want to,” he said, taking a deep breath as he mopped his brow off with shorts. “I’ve got get in the shower now. I should just going to open my mouth in there, 10 miles really took every drop of water out of me.”

Jay closed the washing machine and smiled at his husband’s voice.

“Hey! I’m glad you called, we are almost out of coffee so if you can pick up some more? What are you thinking about cooking?”

“Pasta, Zelda’s favorite,” Hunter said industriously, sitting down and taking off his shoes. “I found a recipe online while I was on the treadmill that I think she’ll really like, Lobster with blushing saffron sauce. You sure you don’t need anything else besides coffee? Even after I find all the ingredients for the souffle, I’m sure I’ll have time while the Gelson’s guys are steaming the lobster. I’ll be home around 4”

Hunter tapped his phone to call Jay on the way to the shower area at his gym. When Jay picked up he heard Hunter panting a little. “Hey Babe, want me to pick anything up at the store? I’m picking up something to cook tonight.”

"Hey! I'm glad you called, we are almost out of coffee so if you can pick up some more? What are you thinking about cooking?"

Jay grinned before deepening the kiss. He knew he would never get tired of kissing this man. “I am definitely the best thing that happened to you.” Jay chuckled lightly, “I am just glad that I did something right and I got you.”

Hunter moved still closer and closed his eyes.  “You’ve done so many things right,” he said in a low voice.  Jay had successfully raised twins and had created a career for himself as an artist at the same time.  He put Hunter and almost everyone else to shame.  He pressed his cheek against Jay’s, finding comfort there.  Jay always made things feel better, but the thought of how uncomfortable Hunter had felt navigating parenting was still enough keep him quiet about wanting another.  Because the truth was, he probably didn’t want another after all.

Hunter stared at their intertwined fingers and nodded, he had almost forgotten about how Jay and Zelda had connected about Ainsley.  Even though the reminder didn’t bring anything new the the table, there was relief in remembering that he wasn’t alone in all of this. 

His eyes welled up at Jay’s next statement, and he swallowed, leaning to kiss Jay’s lips tenderly.  “You’re the best thing to ever happen to me, you know that, right?

I don’t want to hurt anyone… I am trying not to be angry. Did you ever just not know who you were or what you were doing? I sometimes get scared, hurt or frustrated so much that, I do want to hurt people…Then if i do hurt them, i feel worse and i wish i had never. I wish, I could be more like Cole.

No… I worry you, why does it worry you that i am angry? I am just confused at times. I don’t know how to figure everything out and enjoy things. 

Because sometimes you don’t know what to do with your anger. Everyone gets angry Scarlett- but when you are not constructive with your anger that worries me.
