Vishnu Temple of the Grand Canyon shines brightly during last weekend's snowstorm. How will this view change in a world beset by overpopulation, pollution, and consumption? Everywhere we look we can see the climate that fostered our civilization is at a tipping point, a world in upheaval. Everywhere we look we're also told we need to buy "this", consume "that", go "there". It's hard knowing I'm a part of this system. I stress over the smallest wasteful use, I pick up trash in the wilderness, I turn down the heat, I recycle, I compost, I reuse, I repair, but I could do more, we all could do more. This week marks 10 years of living in Colorado. 10 years after selling possessions and leaving Ohio for the mountains I always knew I wanted to live in. 10 years of chasing fall colors but still finding amazing new places like this. In that time I’ve watched the state grow and change for better and for worse; I’ve watch the same with nature photography. I'm beyond lucky to be doing what I love in a place I love, and next year will bring new steps in that. Colorado will still be home, but in a different and exciting way.
