met my year 4 teacher recently (for when ur 8 - 9 years old)

i keep thinking about how she had to tell a room of 8 year old that their classmates dad was dead

apparently I passed round leaflets for sepsis (which he died of) but I don't remember

and i just think, shut that must have been so hard for my teacher, she was only in her 20s and that must be so heartbreaking to watch that happen to a child

i feel really empathetic to my past self for going thru that but then I remember that's me! and I'm ok now, it's just odd to think about

but yeah, I wish I could tell my younger self that it's scary, and it's so hard, but it's going to be ok

ive lived over half my life without my dad now, and I miss him so much

ive grown up so much since then it's mad

i wish I could tell myself that it's not as scary as I thought it was

i feel simultaneously the same and so much older
