I remember writing to tell you how many scenes from the first book I recognized in the trailers, and to my surprise, they ended up covering the whole book.
A couple of thoughts on that: the plot felt super rushed, though reading your last post definitely makes sense of why. Also, I think I actually would’ve enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the book first.
Honestly, I liked the second book way better than the first (fingers crossed I keep liking each one more as I work my way to number 19).
And lastly, reading about the '80s and early '90s gives me such nostalgia, like Anna having to dictate her credit card number to an operator just to call her sister. I really wish they’d kept that period setting for the show, but I get that period pieces are pricier and can slow down the pacing.
I kind of agree about not having read the book, or I wish I were able to separate the two better. Maybe it'll be easier as the show continues and takes on a life of its own.
That said... it was killing me not knowing why the scene with her and Christina unlocking the iPhone felt so off, and that's 100% why. It loses a bit of the nostalgic separation from modern society that the books have. Also she did so much investigating in the book just to look at a photo on a phone screen and solve it.
Thank you very much for including that because it answered something that was sitting awkwardly for me. Anyway. I'm excited to see how book 2 is integrated. There were also very vague mentions of book 17, which I'm even more curious about how it'll fit.
