oh dang she makin stuff

Another quilt!!! I’ve been working on this one for a long time, maybe 3-4 years.

I wanted to make a summer quilt we could use for a bit of weight without getting too warm, so the batting is pretty thin. It could stand to be a bit bigger and I probably should have added a border to give it some overhang on the bed but I’m not too bothered by it.

When I was making this quilt, I definitely was thinking of streetlights and stars reflecting on a pond at night. It’s not super literal or figurative but it’s definitely stuck in my head lol.

The cool colors half is hand quilted with silver and navy no. 8 perle cotton while the warm colors half is done in yellow and navy with the same thread. The center pieces just have a wavy line through each one. I used a Cafe Bustelo lid as a template for the orange peel quilt design everywhere else, but I probably could have gone with a bigger circle to make a bit less work for myself lol.

Pattern: “Type It!”

I started this puff quilt back in 2024 I think? I started making little puffs like crazy for a while, using whatever scraps in the right colors I had lying around. Then we moved and it got put on the back burner for a while.

But recently I felt a wave of quilting motivation and managed to finish it up—although my sewing machine struggled with the weight of it. Some seams were left a little exposed, hence the little patches I had to put on instead of pulling it apart. I used an old sheet for the backing and hand tied it with some Knitpicks palette wool yarn I also had lying around.

I love the colors and it’s throw-ish sized. It’s so squishy and comforting and I think it will live on our couch—I’m sure our cat will claim it as her own.

I absolutely love these socks. However, it only took a few months to wear a hole in the toe.

But luckily catching a worn spot before it turns into a hole is a much easier mend with Swiss darning! With some scrap sock yarn, I just followed the existing threads in the worn spot to “re-knit” the area.

My dad gave me these ripped jeans he’s had from at least 2005. In pants years, this means they’re ANCIENT. I wore them for a while as is because they’re super comfy and always look great on me!

But the time came for me to mend them to extend their life… Pants Life Support if you will…

I’m making a couple other pairs of pants that are too short into cut offs, and so I used pieces of the leftover legs to mend these ones.

Finished this sweater a while ago but I’m just getting around to posting it! It’s a Laerke Bagger pattern, called “Alone Together,” where you hold two strands of yarn and tie in random yarn scraps you have saved up.

I still have many more scraps, but this sweater is sooo warm and cozy and I love the little bits of fun colors. I wear it all the time!

This lovely still life was recently sold and now has a permanent home!

Made some new socks just in time for Valentine’s Day! 🧦💕

Knit them as normal according to my super secret sock recipe, and then used duplicate stitch to add the hearts on. They’re very warm and comfy!

I knit this sweater in 2020 or 2021… and then it languished in my pile of Knits That Need the Ends Weaved In and to Be Blocked for about 3 years. 😭 but hey I finally finished it up and blocked it a couple weeks ago!

It’s super soft like kittens and very comfy. Overall definitely a favorite 💕

Pattern: Ranunculus by Midori Hirose

Maybe it’s not very glamorous, but I love doing little mends like this. This is one of my husband’s favorite sweaters, but I noticed a little tear the other day.

Darning this took about 15 minutes. Now the sweater will last even longer!

Started this quilt about two years ago… And just recently finished piecing it, then basted and started quilting!

I’m quilting by hand—because I dislike quilting with my sewing machine—using thick pearl thread and bigger stitches. This makes it go a little faster.

I recently finished this baby quilt for my newest cousin 💕 I think this is technically my fourth finished quilt?

The pattern is called “Broken Dishes” and from what I can tell is a pretty traditional one. Alternating “light” and “dark” half-square triangles gives a consistent visual effect, although I made one mistake on positioning a quilt block. Hats off to you if you can find it!

The backing is soft yellow flannel. The quilting was done entirely by hand, although I did use a sewing machine to piece the top and do some other finishing. The batting is a thinner cotton but it’s still very cozy due to the flannel.

This painting has sold and is on its way to its forever home!!!! Yay! 🎉

Ok so I don’t know why but I never set up prints for this painting I finished in 2017!??? Despite it being one of my favorite paintings I’ve ever made????

So I fixed that! It’s now available as a matte print on my website in three different sizes.

Finally finished and blocked these cute socks!

It was a fun experiment with color dominance in colorwork knitting and gave me a really thick, soft, cushiony fabric. They’re super comfy and almost more like slipper-socks.

Well I finally got some decent pictures of the silk shawl with beads that I made!! I still love it so much. Seriously the most beautiful thing I’ve ever knit !!! 🕸️✨
