For those who don’t know Counterfeit., how would you sum yourselves up in a sentence? Guitar driven rock music with a punk ethos.

Can you talk us through your latest single ‘You Can’t Rely’? It’s about the feeling of coming to terms with the realisation that expectation inherently has flaws that will flip everything on its head at some point in time. It’s a ticking time bomb.

Tell us about your first Dr. Martens: (Jamie) My first pair of Dm’s were these limited edition maroon canvas boots and I instantly fell in love with them. I still have them to this day and I wear them on very special occasions, strong boots.

What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in? Diversity and multi-culturalism.

You’ve wrapped up your UK/EU tour and are set to play Alexandra Palace this November – what else can we expect to see from Counterfeit. this year? We’re heading out to Russia a few days after that show, it’s our first time out there! On our return we’ll be in lockdown writing the new record.

Jamie: Bang bang. Sam: Nice. Very nice.

Interviewer: Counterfeit. just won Best Live Act at the AIM Awards, how does it feel? Jamie: Feels good, feels good. Sam: Mental. Roland: It’s crazy. Tristan: It’s special. Interviewer: Did you expect it? Jamie: No, we were up against Rick Astley. I mean, I thought Big Rick had got it you know. Interviewer: I saw him this year, and he was.. good. Jamie: He just played with Foo Fighters on stage I saw, on the internet. So for us, it’s crazy. Tristan: Yeah. We haven’t done that. We haven’t played on stage with Foo Fighters so. Interviewer: Not yet. Jamie: Not yet, this is true. Interviewer: Would you like to? Jamie: Absolutely. Roland: Oh my god, I’d love to yeah. Interviewer: Who are your other heroes you’d love to play with? Jamie: We’ve been fortunate to play with, well my one - Tristan: Billy Talent. Jamie: Billy Talent, Biffy Clyro, obviously Foos I’m super into Royal Blood. I mean I love what Dalgety does. I’ve been loving what he’s done on production since like Dinosaur Pile-Up days. So yeah. Roland: We won’t stop until we play with Taylor Swift. We’ll get there. Interviewer: Why not!

Interviewer: Debut album - been received so well. Have you started working on the second album? Roland: Yeah we have. Tristan: Yeah little bits. Roland: Trinkets coming through. Tristan: We have plans to move in together, hash out a few things, see what happens. It might not work but we’ll see, something will happen. Roland: We’ve gotta give it a go. Jamie: We’ve tracked all the seascapes for all the spacey songs we’re gonna do. Roland: Yeah we’ve been collecting samples. Jamie: Exactly yeah. Roland: We’ve been collecting some interesting samples around London, a bit of time abroad. There’s some very good rivers in Venice. Jamie: It’s a canal. Roland: Sorry, the canals, forgive me. I have a feeling they’ll make their way into the next album. We’ll do something different we’ll see. Tristan: Keep it fresh.

Interviewer: Is there a working title of any sort? Jimmy: Tight dresses (?) Jamie: Oh no no no no no. Roland: No way Jamie: No no no don’t do it. Jimmy: I nearly said it. Jamie: You nearly said it. Don’t do it. Sam: The answer is no. Jamie: There is, but it’s a secret.
