the off campus tv series is literally my new hyperfixation!!! I watched the whole show in a go instead of savoring it. Like what did they actually put in this show?!!! IT WAS SOOO GOOD!
Nothing grinds my gears more than secondary leads thinking they are owed one of the main characters just because theyâve been quietly obsessive their whole life. It doesnât even make sense why he was so quietly obsessive. He had a billion chances before and after becoming prime minister to state his feelings but chose to only after she was taken. Boo fucking hoo. GROW UP??
âbits to use in everyday conversationsâ
adding another kdrama to my list of favorite kdramas: Doom at Your Service!! The absolute masterpiece it is!
Ilya so immediately clocked Shane's little autistic flirting in that Saskatchewan parking lot but I honestly don't think Shane clocked it himself so, years later, when Ilya talks about it as "Shane coming onto him" and Shane goes "hello??? I just wanted to introduce myself??" Ilya just says, "Shane, the apple of my eye, the light of my life, my breeze in a stuffy room, my sunshine in the dead of winter, when have you ever willingly initiated small talk with another person?" and Shane is forced to concede that, yes, looking back, he was flirting.

this is so important to me
"My eyes have never changed" DON'T WE KNOW IT MISTER PRINCE SIR. He has been looking at her like she hung the moon for the entire show. He knows it. We know it. Now she knows it.
also rewatching lovely runner because watching byeon wooseok in perfect crown gave me lovely runner withdrawals lol
the plot works so well because sunjae kind of knew sol and liked her first before he became a kpop star. like you go into it thinking it's just some cute lil kpop star x fangirl story but it's NOT and there's so much more to it!
The montage thing in Episode 14 where it shows Dongkyung and Sa-ram spending time together before he disappears (going grocery shopping, making dinner together, eating together, attending her doctors appointments together, and sleeping in the same bed) really hit me emotionally when I first watched, even as someone whoâs not hugely emotional or empathetic when they watch dramas. It struck a chord with me because it seemed like a portrayal of a young married couple.
A young couple in love, sharing a home and a common space and enjoying each otherâs company and standing united in the face of a presumed future together - which they will never get to have (or so they think at the time, anyway). And I think it makes the anticipation of his departure more impactful because this is what they could have had, in another life. In another reality. They have it right now because soon it will be gone, and they could have had this every day if they werenât who they were and if their circumstances were different (theoretically. Who knows, really)
And they know theyâre on borrowed time. This togetherness - does it feel like a mourning ritual? Or like preparation?
And when she wakes to find him sitting in the window, I think they really portrayed a sort of anticipatory grief. You look at someone you know with certainty that you will lose, and time freezes. You try to memorize their sweet face, the way they look at you, the kind recognition in their eyes when they see you. And you understand suddenly that there will come a day after which you will never get to see that expression again.
âWhen spring comes, and morning comes, I will think of you for the rest of my life. Would I be able to endure it?â
And after he disappears⌠oh. She lays in his big bed that feels too empty. She messages him even though she knows he wonât answer, but still she hopes for a miracle - the way on occasion Iâll text my mom or call her with the tiniest, nonsensical belief that maybe sheâll answer, even though itâs been 5 years since I felt her ashes on the tips of my fingers. Sometimes Dongkyung dreams he comes back, and it feels like a nightmare has ended. It all feels so real until she wakes up. This is the real nightmare, she realizes.
Anyways the grief portrayed in DAYS is so fascinating to me because once you feel grief, you carry it with you for a long time, and I think I search for reflections of my own in everything I see. Itâs why this show touched me in ways that I didnât expect and donât often experience from other dramas.
Itâs also not just about the romance - itâs about their partnership and connection. Sa-ram swore he couldnât empathize, couldnât love, couldnât live like a human. But what is more human than sharing in each otherâs happiness and each otherâs pain? He is living because he is shouldering the agony and the joy of a life with Dongkyung, even if itâs in a horribly compressed span of time, and initiated through a really unique set of circumstances.
Sorry, in my head this idea is kinda messy and hard to verbalize but i swear itâs just because Iâm inarticulate. I tried my best.
when myul mang was feeling this intense emotion that was taking over his life but he couldnt quite name it so instead of agonising over what it was he just decided to name it tak dong-gyong because she embodied that feeling for him
and so he sighs out her name and he rushes towards her because well
love. she is love.

Doom At Your Service

I came in expecting sadnessâI knew this drama was going to hurt. But I wasnât prepared for how much. My heart wasnât just broken; it was ripped out, stomped on, and set on fire, repeatedly. And yet, at the same time, this gave me one of the most swoonworthy romances Iâve ever seen. One minute I was giggling, blushing, kicking my feet, and the next I was staring at the screen in emotional ruin. This show was detrimental to my health and I loved every second.
The writing hit hard. So many lines were gut-wrenching and unforgettable, balancing heartbreak with pure romantic poetry. Pair that with gorgeous cinematography and a killer soundtrack, and it honestly felt like a fever dream of emotions.
Dong-kyung and Myul Mang/Sa-ram? Soulmates, fated lovers, the definition of âus against the world.â They were adorable, devastating, and perfect together. Both willing to die for the otherâitâs tragic, beautiful, and impossible to look away from. Truly one of those couples that makes you believe in destiny.
Joo-ik deserves a whole paragraph of his own. The man, the myth, the absolute icon. Personality? Immaculate. Fashion? Flawless. The way he carried himself made every scene better. His relationship with Ji-na was sweet too (even if it took her way too long to figure her life out).
Meanwhile, Lee Hyeon-kyu⌠selfish. Man really thought Ji-na would wait nine years and welcome him back with open arms like nothing happened. Absolutely not.
Also: Dong-kyungâs hair color? Gorgeous. Someone get me her stylist immediately.
And Myul Mangâs power? Extremely cool. His house, though? Hideous. Truly tragic that a being like that lives in such an eyesore.
This show was basically written for people who love hand-holding (me). Actually, scratch thatâit was written for me. Tailored to my exact taste: tragic romance, gorgeous visuals, heartbreaking devotion. Iâll never recover.
funniest instance of "not allowed to actually smoke by the korean hays code" i've seen in a kdrama so far
