It also shows me that a lot of you guys don’t understand Michael, or at least the message he was giving not only to the industry but to the world. Yes, Michael stood against injustice and inequality and begged everyone to come together as one but at the same time, he never went for racism. Not for himself, not for his family, and especially for the rest of the black community. He’s spoken out about racism all his life, especially having to deal with it so severely his entire life.

So why would you, as a non-black person, ever feel the need to push yourself in a conversation full of black people expressing their distraught when a situation happens?

Also, most of us don’t care that you’re white in this fandom, okay, great but what you do after that is established is where there can be a problem. Your actions matter. A lot of you guys forget you are supporting a black man, I wholeheartedly believe that. A lot of people’s actions prove my point that you don’t view Michael as a black man, a proud Black American man at that and it’s odd and offensive; especially with the scrutiny he faced and continues to face even through death.

There’s always an excuse for someone’s behavior, instead of allowing black people to be offended when it is offensive. It’s always pushing black people down and making us feel small, and our voices go unheard when someone does something disrespectful. Why is it when a non-black person does something odd to the black community, they’re met with excuses and apologies but when we, as black people tell people that’s wrong and hurtful, we’re met with the opposite? I know why, but it’s still frustrating.

Y'all will criticize D*ana (rightfully so), Stephanie (rightfully so), even his own SIBLINGS and pretty much EVERYONE else who was in his life for 50 days and 50 nights. But the second someone brings up the fact that Lisa was in the tabloids calling him weird, adding fuel to the nasty accusations and smear campaigns against him now it’s “parasocial.” Had she been a POC/Black Person we wouldn’t be hearing the end of it!

Like imagine if anyone else in his life said that they thought Michael should h*ng from a tree? Y’all would bring it up every chance y’all get.

Don't even get me started on how y'all act like Lisa was the only woman in his life up until his death and that every time he spoke about a woman it had to be about her.

she spoke badly about michael after the divorce, she was a scientologist who tried to make him join a harmful cult, went on a vacation with her ex-husband while being married to michael, insisted michael faked his HBO collapse (claiming he manipulated the media to escape the pressure of the event) despite the medical evidence, and lied to him about having children with him before their marriage…

“they tried to get together after the divorce” NO, michael did NOT want her back, after the divorce, he’s become hard hearted, he never wanted to fix his relationship with her, in fact, lisa was the desperate one, she chased him, including his mother and his sisters in orders to reach him out…

“both of them were wrong, they’re both human after all” that is a laughable statement… equalizing their actions when lisa did much worse than michael, trying to recruit him to a harmful cult and strip away his freedom, casually throwing racist remarks, I wish people would open their eyes and stop romanticizing toxic relationships.

i’ve been seeing a lot of black writers on this app being harassed by people hiding behind anonymous asks to say racist shit towards them and it’s for real getting on my nerves.

i would think out of all spaces, this would be the one that would at least respect black people a whole lot more considering the person you want things written about is a fucking black man????

how are you comfortable consuming content centered around a black man while turning around and being racist to the very people who share that identity? that makes absolutely no sense to me.

whether you like someone’s writing or not, racism should never be part of the conversation, ever. hiding behind anonymous messages doesn’t make what you’re saying any less racist—it just means you’re too pussy to say it with your name attached.

black writers deserve to exist in this fandom without constantly being questioned, insulted, or reduced to something beyond their control. they shouldn’t have to wonder if posting a fic is going to invite racist comments.

if you have that much hate toward black people, maybe ask yourself why you’re even participating in a fandom centered around a BLACK artist in the first fucking place.

this fandom should be a space where people can enjoy writing and support one another, not a place where black creators have to deal with racist bullshit every time they open their inbox.

Obviously, I am not throwing shade to authors who have done this or trying to insult anyone, but it gets to a point.

I think I'm just jealous that Prince doesn't have even half as many fanfics as Michael does. Legitimately, there is only a handful of Prince fanfics on Tumblr 😪.
