no matter how many layers of warm clothes you had on, you could still feel the chilly breeze that announced that winter was coming, into your skin. you couldn’t help but shiver at the low temperature.

that didn’t go unnoticed by neighbor!jisung, whom you ran into at the grocery store. he saw you carrying so many bags that he offered to help you carry them and walk you home.

“you’re freezing,” he said, after noticing your shudder for the umpteenth time in a row. “you can have my coat if you want to; i don’t get cold very easily,” jisung suggested with a shy smile.

“oh, no,” you kindly declined, although all you wanted to do was say yes. “i’m alright; don’t worry about me,” you reassured him with a smile. the fact that the boy that you had a crush on was walking you home was enough to warm your heart; you couldn’t possibly imagine what would happen if you accepted his coat.

“can i hold your hand then?”

“huh?” you didn’t have enough time to react to his question because, before you knew it, your cold hand was now intertwined with jisung’s free hand, which was warmer than you expected.

but that wasn’t all, because the next thing he did was put both hands in one of his pockets.

as your heart uncontrollably started racing, the red on your cheeks matched your red sweater. you timidly glanced at jisung, whose sight was set on the sidewalk, and you swore you saw a little bit of red in his cheeks too.

“thank you” was all you could mumble after a while from all the embarrassment that you were feeling.

and like that, you two continued your way home.
