Reagan stared at the white stick on the bathroom counter. This was the most terrifying moment of her life, and sheâd had a lot of those. She didnât even know what to think, her mind racing a mile a minute. She had missed her period and though theyâd stopped using protection, Rea was still on the pill so she thought itâd be fine. There was one day, a stupid day sheâd forgotten to take it but it couldnât have been bad. It couldnât have been that easy. But now here she was, on the bathroom floor, arms wrapped around her knees and terrified to look up and see the answer. What if she is? Sheâs not ready, sheâs not prepared, could she and Derrick do this? She doesn't want to think about all of that but the thoughts float into her head before she can help it. Her heart is beating fast, damn near beating out of her chest and she canât breathe. She canât fucking breathe because all of her thoughts are overwhelming her. Without even realizing it, she finds that sheâs crying, chest collapsing with the weight of the sobs.Â
Derrick had been pacing back and forth in the living room for about a half hour now. Or at least it had seemed like that. It had been one of those moments where he was just watching television and then it suddenly hit him that he had to go to the bathroom. And knowing that Rea was in there doing whatever meant that he would have to hold it for however long she needed to be in there. However, his bladder was about to absolutely pop and he just had to go knock on the door to see what was up. Or at least let her know he needed the room she was currently occupying. âHey, I was definitely trying to give you some time in here, but I really gotta take a piss. I would go in the sink, but I donât think youâll like that in the future when weâre washing dishes and we realize âYeah, DJ peed in there.â So...â He drifted off as he waited for a response. What she was doing in there was beyond him, but he was a big fan of giving her space when she needed it. The last thing he needed to do was smother her no matter how much he loved her. Not that they said it enough to each other. It was just kind of a known thing. They didnât really need to.
