                            POST PERFORMANCE INTERVIEW
                  (mentioned: @rkjeonghxn, @rkpjy, @rkyeji, @rkeunji, @rkxminkyung)
after performances end, everyone takes their turns being pulled aside to interview, junheeâs least favorite part so far. he had been quiet so far in his, saying nothing remarkable or air-worthy in some form of a silent(ish?) protest about this aspect to the show. it was survival of the fittest, sure, but judging from the interview portions he had seen aired so far, these were just for pouring salt in wounds. when his turn comes, heâs already pulled his jacket back on, a half-attempt at a barrier against the air conditioning in the building. he sits back in the chair comfortably, careful to keep as neutral of expression as possible.Â
what did you think of the results last week?
the usual question, though last weekâs results were a little more hard-hitting than the rest. âhmm... he takes a moment to form the sentences, to decide whether to offer himself up as opinionated as he is or to continue keeping his head down, coasting by every week. âhard.â he settles on that one word, though the interviewer encourages him to elaborate. junhee scratches the back of his neck, a half laugh, nerves creeping in because he doesnât want to ruin his own chances, but doesnât want to stay silent either, not this week. âwell.. no, performances were mediocre.â he stats, knowing that they know exactly who heâs referencing two friends of his paired together, two professionals, humiliated in a way he feared for himself. âjeonghan and jinyoung.. iâm friends with them both, and theyâre both very talented- more than others on this show.. they know what they were doing, and i think they did well.â
the interviewer has a coy smile now, seeming to recognize that something in this particular contestant has changed this week.Â
normally you donât speak much in your interviews, why has that changed this week?
he laughs again, flashing teeth in genuine amusement at recognition of the bait being held in front of him. âi prefer coasting along unnoticed in this.â he admits with ease, adjusting his position to lean forward, more into their conversation. âi think i intend to make myself an underdog, everyone loves one of those, right?â he grins.
how do you think you did this week? any of your friends?
âi think minkyung and i did well,â he responds, âwe worked very efficiently together and i think that showed in our performance.â when the silence hangs, he knows itâs a cue to keep talking, now that he finally is. âi think iâm biased, obviously, because theyâre my friends.â he hesitates in his wording, careful not to make an ass or a martyr of himself. âeunji and sungwoon... they had a technical difficulty,â he leads, âeunji is a very hard-working person, and i admire that about her.. sheâs been through a lot.â junhee admits, clearly pained to talk about how her performance went. âwe trained together for a long time, and sheâs incredibly capable, amazingly talented... i wish that the focus wouldnât be on them getting cut off so suddenly.. they both did well. and yeji did well with her partner too, i love seeing how much sheâs grown after last week.â he smiles fondly, shifting with ease, âwe kept in touch over the week, and she was very nervous about singing more, but she did well again, of course.Â
and jeonghan? jinyoung?
âiâm glad that they got a second chance. they deserve that.âÂ
is there anyone youâre certain will be eliminated today?
itâs his turn to smile coyly, raising a brow as if to challenge why he should answer the question. âwell, it is survival of the fittest, isnât it?â jun leans back in his chair, âwho am i to say.â
                            DUOS - #5037 & #5023
                       PARK JUNHEE & KIM MINKYUNG
                            SHUT UP & GROOVE
                              { 00:06 - 02:06 }
following last weekâs success with yeji, junhee rides on something of a high for himself- the exception being how close the reality of eliminations felt. jeonghan and his partner had been sent home, and truth be told, jun would more readily admit that jeonghan and jinyoungâs stage had been better than his own, simply for how well the two fit together (something that had been clear to him- hence concerned confusion when results were announced). they were both too talented to be eliminated early on, and if it was easy for jun to see, why didnât the ceos?Â
jeonghan acted like it was fine, as expected, but junhee knew from experience that he was anything but- and he had a right to be. he canât bring himself to ask though, to say much aside from that he thought the elimination was uncalled for, that his stage was better and that, truthfully, if it hadnât been yeji as his partner last week, he would have volunteered himself for the chopping block instead.Â
to mild disappointment, theyâre assigned partners again for the next week. as much of a team player as junhee is, thereâs a small part of him who wishes it felt a little more solo, rather than piecing together teams and pulling them apart in facsimiles of unity when they all knew only one was making it out of the show actually being dubbed a winner.Â
his new partner, minkyung, is sweet- not yejiâs pep and enthusiasm for everything that life holds, but kind and keen on working quickly, as one of the first things she figures out is where to practice, and then the song theyâll do. theyâre both vocals, and junhee remembers watching her previous performances (though he honestly doesnât remember them incredibly well), but theyâre styles donât exactly match, and a part of jun wishes he had had the heart to push against the younger for something that he thought showcased their vocals more than the song that they do settle on.Â
itâs got cool vibes and gives them the opportunity to play off of each otherâs energies on stage, but in his own opinion, it wasnât very remarkable, nothing memorable, and he certainly fears elimination more this round than he had before.Â
-
theyâre situated smack in the middle of everyone performing, and as they prepare for their own turn on stage, jun finds the shelf of his mind reserved specifically for âon-stage necessitiesâ, and pulls from it, attempting to stack the weekâs stresses and concerns on another shelf in order to put on the best performance that he can.Â
of course, itâs never the performing on stage part thatâs come hard for him- heâs definitely too used to it now to be affected by it too much- he slips into the mask that comes with being a good performer, eyeing cameras down and adjusting his body language to one of more playful casualty, bouncing off of minkyungâs actions as his partner when they act out certain parts of the song when the lyrics can be. his voice is well suited to the male artistâs, and jun hadnât required too much preparation for the higher notes in the first place, sailing through them with ease as his voice melded and yet stood apart from his partnerâs. they were a good match in talents, and their stage was certainly flawless, but behind the mask junhee wore, it felt empty.Â
                             DUOS - #5011 & #5037
                       HWANG YEJI AND PARK JUNHEE
                            REWRITE THE STARS
             { line division - choreo - junheeâs acapella excerpt [00-:19] }
hearing the results of eliminations and not hearing his own name was something of a surprise. junhee still believes that heâs riding on good luck, and even good luck runs out eventually. heâs barely had what he feels is a fair chance to show off his array of skills, and is thankful for the chance to continue on.Â
this weekâs theme is duos, and even though heâs never met his assigned partner before, yeji is a bright and passionate girl who, despite her voiced insecurities, had a beautiful voice. in his honest thoughts, working with her couldnât have been smoother- she was more than willing to take advice on her vocal technique and allowed junhee to lead as she led in the choreo, staying true to their respective strengths and yet melding together flawlessly.Â
he would be lying if he said he werenât proud of their progress in only a week- where most new teams would have minor disagreements or problems working together, he worked with yeji like they had been partners before, practicing nearly every day when he could join her, intent on showing that they could both adapt- with a performance that showed that. yeji leaned towards a song that was beyond suited to his vocal capabilities (a musical, imagine that), and with only a few pointers or adjustments, had picked a beautiful choreography for both of them.Â
their own turn on the stage arrives, junhee gesturing for yeji to lead the way onto it and bowing with her, thankful that they seemed to have come upon an unspoken agreement on who would speak first. heâs already smiling, yejiâs nervous excitement is contagious, she looks up at him for reassurance after she states wanting to show another side of herself and he nods, a silent signal for them both to get into character.Â
the acapella that junhee does had been yejiâs idea originally, and he was flattered that even still, she constantly tried to make sure that they both were able to show their skills. (and that was only part of the reason they worked so well together, he thinks.) so he starts in the center alone, his gaze fixed on a distant point beyond the stage as if he had been cast in the musical himself, not too hard of a feat, and his voice rings out strong in the absence of music. they had discussed this- the desired impact of just junheeâs voice for just that fraction of a minute, bold and yet pleading at the same time for his affections to be returned.Â
he feels yeji behind him, and then hears her voice in response and itâs nearly all he can do not to break into a grin. he knows just how much she stressed over having so much to herself, how she worried she wouldnât be able to match, and junhee wishes he could put her in his own shoes to let her hear how false all of her worries had been.Â
and with the music cued in and yeji by his side, alternating leads and complementing each other in just the right moment, their two minutes to shine continues, even better than all they had rehearsed before.Â
when it all ends and they come to a stop beside each other, yeji grins and he returns it without question, swinging an arm around her shoulders as she mouths thank you, both bowing to exit. âiâm so proud of you.â
                                 MGA SEASON 5
                                     SKILL
                      PARK JUNHEE PERFORMING CHEMICALS
The first hurdle was over with- thank god. Junhee had severely overestimated the sheer amount of exhaustion that sitting could cause, though when combined with anxiety over potential results and trying to determine if he or his friends did well enough more than contributed to his overall tired relief when he finds out that, again, theyâve all made it.
But no season is alike, as heâs quickly learning. Jun hadnât bothered to watch much of the mgas beforehand, knowing he would get too attached to contestants that would likely be eliminated pretty quickly, disagreeing with the principles in spite of the fact that they were right.Â
Theyâre divided into categories right away now though, and then everything feels more real- more survival than just share your talent. Junhee knows he has an upper hand against some if not for the sheer amount of life experiences heâs been through. But, even if youâre good, you can still be eliminated, heâs not dumb enough to think himself invincible in any way like that, but he does hope that someway, somehow, heâll continue to slide through until the finish line. (luck donât fail him now.)
Thereâs been more times that heâs had vocal runs and warmups this week than he can count- though he dropped out of a production in the hopes of making it onto the show, Junhee still rehearses as if itâs his role every day anyway- partly out of fear of losing any hint of vocal strength he has.Â
He watches all the other singers ahead of him, himself conveniently sandwiched somewhere in the middle of the bulk of them. Maybe that helps in a way, the fact that by the time his name is called, thereâs really not a lot of expectations for him- easier to impress, maybe. But judges get tired too, and though trained as he may be, Jun definitely isnât a mind reader when it comes to telling whether or not the ceos are already bored.Â
His name is called and thereâs a feeling of deja-vu, similarity to the last episode but thankfully Junhee knows what heâs doing now (he thinks), and introduces himself not as an ex-group member, but as Park Junhee, idol hopeful once again.Â
The song he eventually settled on is from one of his favorite artists, and if he thinks about it, Jun is pretty sure itâs sitting inside the cd player next to his bedside table, the album ready to be played on repeat until heâs sick of it even still. It suits his vocals incredibly well while still allowing for room to work with, cautious but bold nonetheless.Â
He sings with measured breaths though following the choreography too isnât required at all. Itâs the part of him that wants to be confident in the fact that he leaves everything out on the stage; Himself, laid bare for national television to see, overachieving in all its glory. It shows that though he is one of the older contestants, he still has it, and that makes all the difference.Â

                                 MGA SEASON 5
                                  CALLBACKS
                      PARK JUNHEE PERFORMING SUCKER
                                 { 00:00 - 01:58 }
receiving a callback to the mgas himself had been surprising enough, but finding out that both jeonghan, eunji, and sihyeon had too was enough to make junhee question. he was definitely thankful, but what were the odds all of them had made it into the show? his suspicions are confirmed when everyone is informed that this is just a callback- he knows as well as jeonghan and even eunji, just because you get a callback, doesnât mean itâs in the bag. theatre had taught them all that much.Â
still he prepares as if it is his, rehearsing as if they were training again, running through exercises that he hadnât done in almost five years. his voice is still just as in shape as ever, kept in check and ever improving thanks to finding a home in musical theatre itself. singing was easily his best skill, and, well, the charisma that came with it was just natural. thereâs an aspect to his skillset that gives him an edge, puts him as one in a group of few (if the rumors of returning contestants were true) that are already comfortable onstage. and as a former idol, it lends itself an even better benefit.
but it still doesnât calm the nerves inside his chest as he steps up to the center, called upon by so jisub to show his selected talent. âhello,â he bows, âdiamondâs ace-â he cuts himself off with a little laugh and bows again, though with a very present red flush thanks to his own embarrassment. âpark junhee. i will be singing for you today.â he swallows and offers another charming smile, stepping back to mentally count himself off, shaking off his earlier fumble.Â
the song he ended up settling on is one that shows off his comfort with his skills, ability to deliver higher notes than some while still remaining stable. junhee starts off strong with ease, quickly slipping in to the mindset of performing and forgetting his own mistake merely seconds ago. thereâs an easy and upbeat beat to follow that makes it easy for junhee to follow, engage the other contestants with his stand mic as he moves with it, grinning.
iâm a sucker for you. and the you is directed, maybe a little intentionally, towards the girl he sits next to, the song kept a secret up until this point purely for this purpose. he catches eunjiâs eyes when the beat drops to call for handclaps, mic gripped in one hand as he makes a half turn toward the other contestants on other side. (if there was one thing he liked to think he was good at, it was sharing the energy when he performed.) his voice rings out as a one-man band, but for junhee, itâs easy- carrying the stage as a soloist wasnât something he specifically trained for, but his group had been the one chosen (instead of eunjiâs he thinks sadly) to go on the few music shows that would allow them in, and itâs not strange to him.Â
thereâs an ease with which he commands the stage, partially improved upon thanks to jeonghanâs own rubbing-off on him, and itsâ evident in the way heâs not afraid to sway, to move or to headbang on the chorus when it picks back up again because stillness kills a performance more than anything. (you could sing terribly but still put on a good show, everyone knew that.)
âitâs true. iâm a sucker for you.â he ends with a wink towards where the ceos, their judges for the day, sit. bowing smoothly and returning to his seat.Â
Auditioning for a survival-esque show is something Junhee has never really considered doing before. Of course, he watched season after season of the MGAs, voted for a few favorites and felt generally bad for them when it didnât work out, but actively participating? No, he was much too keen to leave that to someone else.Â
And yet, thanks to both Jeonghan and Eunjiâs encouragements (mostly, maybe a small part was his own actual drive to succeed) after his KT audition not going well, he finds himself in a highschool gym at 6 in the morning, separated from both of them, and distinctly aware of how slight his chances at actually getting in this season were.Â
Everyone was younger, probably more fit, and most likely at a point in their lives he had once been where every spare moment was practicing- drilling to become a better singer or dancer in hopes of getting signed. Would it even be fair if he managed to get a spot instead of one of them? Junhee had, after all, been an idol already (though not a good one, or at least not good enough to save the company from bankruptcy), and they had much longer to spend chasing a dream than he did.Â

               KT ENTERTAINMENT PRIVATE AUDITION
NE-YO - LET ME LOVE YOU (ACOUSTIC VERS.)
junhee walks into kt entertainment as if he fears that the building alone might try to eat him alive; he knows itâs impossible, but a part of him is still blown away by the very thought that the wealthiest company in the country scouted him. itâs a polar opposite to his prior experiences, and really rather ironic if he thinks hard about it. park junhee, ex-idol whose company went bankrupt, scouted by the one company that, realistically, wouldnât ever.Â
itâs a foot in the door and maybe if it goes well, a continuing dream come true, but breaking the news about being streetcast to his friends at dinner that night had been... better than it could have been. part of him is still disappointed that somehow his best friend wasnât cast, but knowing wooyoungâs history with trc, it couldnât have been fully expected either. after a rough few days, jun finally gathers his thoughts and schedules an audition.Â
what heâll do however, is another story.Â
heâs rusty in terms of being a triple threat, which is definitely why he came nowhere close to winning that competition, but he is capable- the question is what is he capable in most? after pursuing a career in musical theatre, his singing is arguably whatâs stayed conditioned most, but back in moonlight, he was used more as a dancer. after a few hours of debating, he settles on playing to his strengths.
heâs not sure what exactly inspires his song choice, except that he hadnât heard it in a very long time and it had recently resurfaced in his head, to the point that he was humming what he could remember and trying to google the lyrics to figure out what it was.Â
when he enters he bows and greets the casting agent and the other staff respectfully, rattling off his name and what heâll be displaying and thanking them for the opportunity. he sits, and old habits take over, bolstering his performance of a basic song and showing that he certainly didnât lack vocal training. itâs just an audition, he reminds himself, but even still he finds himself falling into the performance fully, as if it were something more and he were re-enacting a memory from performances long ago rather than a new, mildly terrifying experience for him. his timbre is steady, having picked a song easily within his range and own skill, and though melisma is something he hasnât practiced actively in a long time, he owes his thanks to theatre and its demanding nature to further refinement of his vocal capability.Â
the lyrics make him think of eunji, who has been there for him without fail ever since they became friends, how her experiences have coloured her outlook on life and how jun has always tried to encourage her to look past it, to overcome it like she continues to do every day. itâs a bit of a love song, and maybe if he ever had the courage (liquid or genuine) to sing the same song in front of her one day, she might understand his heart a little more than she did already. itâs part of what helps him pull this one off though, singing with true feeling instead of pretend- and it makes him realize that he still has to thank her for pushing him to enter the competition; he was only standing in kt entertainment right now because of her, and he needed to let her know how thankful he was for her.Â
when he finishes and the room falls silent again, he thanks the agent for the opportunity to audition and bows lowly, already waiting anxiously to see what fight might have in store for him.Â
After Tiger JKâs announcement backstage the contestants are told the show is over and they may go home. Before you leave, however, a woman quickly stops you in your tracks. âIâm sorry, but I think this may be yours.â She gives you a card youâre certain isnât yours. âItâs a gift from KT. Weâd love to see what you really have to show.â The card contains KT Entertainmentâs contacting information on it. âIf you call the number you may schedule an audition with KT. I wouldnât miss this chance if I were you.â And so the agent walks away without much any more information to give.
High on feelings from stepping onstage as a performer for the first time in four years, Junhee can think of nothing less than going out to dinner with Eunji, Wooyoung, and Ilhoon as a pseudo-celebration. Neither of them had won (or probably come close) but for Jun, it was enough just to prove that he still had it.Â
Heâs just finishing up talking to some of the other contestants before leaving to meet up with Eunji when someone stops him, and heâs sent back to 2010 again, the smiling politeness already giving away what this could be. âOh.. Uh..â he laughs, raising a hand to scratch at the back of his neck while the other takes the offered card. âThank you,â he nods, tucking the card into his back pocket. Suddenly there are nerves bunching in his stomach, and dinner seems like a new obstacle to overcome. He half-groans, turning on his heel to find the others- already trying to figure out how to break the news.Â
( OOC: Congratulations on being scouted by KT! In case your muse is interested, they may schedule their audition anytime between the 22nd and 7th IC. The person in the call will let them know to prepare a performance displaying one skill they consider their strongest. Please have your 250+ word audition solos up by midnight the end of Wednesday, May 8th EST. Please tag your solos with #rkttc2audition. Good luck! )
                 TRIPLE THREAT CHALLENGE
                         ONE - í´ěźí´
jun hasnât actively participated in anything remotely idol-like since his idol days. perhaps it was out of unadmitted fright, or simply for an unwillingness to try again, only to fail in the same ways- to endure the same hurt that he once did twice over. no, park junhee has stuck to theatre and really, theatre only since then. could anyone blame him?
but eunji encourages him, and wooyoung tempts him with the idea, before inadvertently inspiring him too. if wooyoung can do it, even just to remind a company of what they lost, then he can muster up enough courage to pull off one performance.Â
heâs not diamondâs ace or jaqâs PJ anymore; today he is just junhee, and junhee is not exactly the go out there and show them what youâve got all the time kind of guy. itâs natural he struggles in choosing a song- he isnât exactly a triple threat unless he has to be- all of those skills more than a little rusty. (thank god the challenge is announced early enough for true preparation.) so he works hard, thanking above that thereâs not currently any rehearsal he has to take his time- working with jaewon for the choreography, running through everything himself over and over to make sure thereâs no trips, no hiccups in it- as if it were the thing his life depended on most right now.Â
itâs enough to give him pause though; in his groups he was always a motivator- making sure that everyone was feeling confident enough to perform or picking up slack when it was needed, taking care of members when they were sick. he doesnât have that anymore, hasnât had that in a while now, and the whole idol that park junhee once was in only shown in shadows now, occasional glimpses in the right moments and not much else. sure, he knew he was charming, that was obvious by many standards, but idol-worthy.. was he still after so long?
he spends a long time going back and forth on yes and no and whether or not he was really competing, if he really wanted it or if it was just to prove to himself that he somehow still had a shred of something- that all the training, the blood, sweat, and tears werenât for nothing.Â
he knows in his head to channel his stage personas, but the quicker heartbeat and the way that he feels just a tiny bit faint as he prepares himself tells him that itâs real, that heâs going to perform again, and maybe it will come to him just as easily as it used to.Â
and he listens to that small voice instead of the louder one screaming that the people in the audience that recognize a former boygroup member would be disappointed in him now- sad to see how heâs not improved and in fact maybe gotten worse.Â
and still instead he channels the memories of success, of a third place on charts because thatâs as high as any of their titles ever got, but it was good enough. he repeats the mantra in his head even as heâs stepping onto the stage, and his hearing deafens, and it feels like itâs all the way back in 2010, performing for the first time, the first music show, the first chance.Â
he finds eunjiâs head in the crowd and focuses on that too- and remembers everything sheâs been through to get here, for them both to get to this point in time, and how sheâs here now, encouraging him in spite of the past, in spite of the fear, in spite of everything. and it clicks.Â

sujeong isnât so sure why sheâs here. itâs probably a lot better than going to some random party and waking up with a headache ââ or forcing herself to work on her papers and still, inevitably, getting a headache.
somehow. sheâs convinced junhee to hang out with her. she hasnât actually had time to talk to him in a while and she thinks itâll be fun to go around this⌠convention with a friend. also, sheâs been getting a lot closer to eunji and she finally wants to play the role of supportive friend right.
âiâm sure youâre wondering why iâve gathered you here today,â she says, despite it only being junhee and her (itâs a line sheâs always wanted to use). âitâs to check how far you are in your pursuit of what may be, nay,â she pauses for dramatic effect, âwhat is⌠the hottest woman we know,â she nods her head. âyou made a move on eunji yet?â she asks, smiling.
sujeong is more of eunjiâs friend than his, he thinks. not that heâs ever complained about it (excluding the times he jokes about how he âcanât believeâ heâs friends with someone like her), but sheâs also never hesitated to call him out for feelings for eunji that he hadnât fully worked through himself yet.Â
so when she convinces him into spending time with her at the community center, itâs more than evident that at some point, their conversation will return to the girl in question. âwell hopefully not to kill me,â he jokes, already knowing where sheâs going to go with this conversation.Â
he remains silent, listening with a lazy smile as sujeong continues, one brow raised and arms crossed casually. âi guess i did?â he questions, âbut she turned me down.â he shrugs, then continues walking, âsheâs not ready for that and i should respect it.â but god there are some days he wants to say to hell with it and kiss her for no reason, like the roles of men he got often did. he sighs, his disappointment evident in the casual atmosphere that being with sujeong allows for. âi donât know man, i just.... i donât know.â
