"Well I'd forget too if roles were reversed," he said, giving her a wink. Of course, he didn't mind her using his soap. "Go ahead. It's all here. The sun's probably about to come up soon, so we'd better get some breakfast. We can either make food here, or we can go out to eat. There's a place down the street. Should be open in the next half hour or so." Though he hadn't been planning on them going out for breakfast, it was still too early to really go do anything right now. And, he was starving. Finishing up rinsing himself off, he took a step out of the water to allow Jade to wash herself off. "Okay, baby. You finish up in here. Take your time. I'll let the dogs outside, get everything ready to go. I love you." Pressing a kiss to her head, he slid the door open and stepped onto the carpet, wrapping his towel around his body. Closing the door quickly, he dried himself off and wiped the steam off the mirror. Once his face was damp, he took his face cream off of the counter and applied it before beginning to get dressed. Finally he brushed and styled his hair, then made his way out to the kitchen. With a low whistle, the dogs came down the hall, all three wagging excitedly. He grabbed his cigarettes and lighter and began towards the backyard. Letting the dogs out and standing on the porch, he lit the cigarette.

"Okay, Teach, respect. Straight from the bottle, got a little spunk, hell yeah. Totally ruining my whole world view that teachers live and breathe nothing but work," he laughed, head shaking gently. He admittedly still had a bit of the same mindset as the kids thinking that teachers never did anything outside of school, so it was nice to know that he'd been quite wrong. His grin resurfaced as she talked about her own troublemakers in class. "Are they totally your favorites, though? The troublemakers just have a bit more charm, if you ask me." A completely and utterly biased answer, but he liked to think that at least in his earliest years he'd been the fun type of trouble to have around.

Jade couldn’t help but chuckle. There was more to Jade than meets the eye. On the outside, she might look like a goody-two-shoes. She follows the rules and does not get into trouble. Ha! That was not true. Granted, she did follow some rules out in public, and in her classroom, she reinforced their classroom rules for her students, but other times she could be a wild child. Especially when she was still under her parents' roof, she bent all the rules that were set for them. “Thank you. Thank you very much. I can let loose and have some fun. Other times I am the girl staying home in comfy pjs and watching a good movie. Let me take it back then, I stay at school and do nothing but work.” She chuckled. It wasn’t a wrong assumption. Some teachers did stay late after school. Jade wasn’t one of them. She made sure that she had everything ready before she left for the day. She didn’t want to stay any longer than she had to. Jade thought about it for a second. Even though they pushed every button that she had, they still held a special place in her heart. “They are at the top of my list when they come in and don't cause any trouble. I do have some fun times with them. They do put on the charm and cute eyes.” She smiled.

Kaj was glad to hear she slept well. He hoped he would be able to sleep better tonight once everything was all said and done. "He does tend to do that. Judas is so good and curls himself up into a little ball at the end of the bed. Lazarus thinks the whole bed is all his." He knew that Lazarus was used to it just being him and Kaj in the bed, but Kaj thought by now the dog should be used to having to share it with Jade. Of course, he knew eventually it would get through the pup's head—or so he hoped. "I wouldn't lead you astray," he said lowly, watching her undress through the glass door. When she slipped inside of the shower, he pulled her under the water, pressing his lips to her's. Little intimate moments like these were one of the things that made Kaj sure that Jade was the one for him. She was everything and more than he ever needed in his life. There were so many moments in his life when he wished for a woman just like her. There was a long time when he wondered what it was he would have to do to find someone like Jade, and now that he was in a great place in life, he got the final piece that was missing in it. Some people would maybe think that proposing to someone a little more than a year after meeting them was crazy, but Kaj just knew there was something different about this.

Especially back at that age, Knox could see fully believing that all his teachers lived at the school and just never left. Even now some of the people he met out and about in specific places it was easy to forget that they were people outside of their workplace. "A big glass of wine, hell yeah, Teach. I get that, though. They see you in the same place every day for like most of the day, so it probably gets hard to think of you being anywhere else," he nodded, totally getting that frame of thought. Her next question merited a laugh, hand running back through his hair for a moment. "I was a total shithead back then. Either I was causing trouble or I was so checked out that I didn't do anything. Far from a perfect angel." A description that probably still held true for the most part with Knox. He was slightly better, perhaps, than he had been back then, but not by much. "You get a lot of kids giving you a hard time?"

The amount of times that she overheard or even was asked the questions of “Ms. little do you sleep here at school. Do you go home? Do you have a home?” She would be rich. Her students were just curious though and when they left for the day, Jade did stay a little bit after to get things ready for the next day before leaving. So, she could see how they would ask those questions. “Oh yeah, some days it’s straight from the bottle. Don’t even bother with grabbing a glass.”she chuckled. “For 8 hours a day. Then if they see me around town, they’re surprised to see me.”she smiled. Jade wasn’t by any means profiling Knox since they just meant, but she could see him being a little trouble maker and raising hell for his teachers when he was in school. “There are few that are my troublemakers and like to push my buttons and the boundaries and rules I’ve set, but for the most part I have a good class.”she smiled.

Once Kaj had gathered his things—his hair brush, his face cream, his soaps and a fresh change of clothing—he made his way to the bathroom, closing the door behind him. He set his brush, clothes, and cream on the counter and put the soap into the shower before pulling his boxers off and kicking them into the corner of the bathroom. He couldn't get the jittery feeling out of his stomach, almost feeling like he might throw up if he moved the wrong way. The nerves were definitely getting to him, and he had to get it together before he and Jade went anywhere. He had to try and act as if everything was completely normal as to not give Jade any inkling that there was a huge surprise coming. Turning the knob in the shower, he adjusted the water temperature just perfect before stepping in and closing the sliding glass door behind him. Now that he was under the water, some of the stress eased up, allowing his mind to clear for just a moment before he heard the bathroom door open. "Good morning, babe," he said, turning to wet his hair. "Did you sleep okay? Lazarus was being a bed hog. He kept waking me up." He laughed, reaching for his shampoo. Squeezing some soap into his hand, he set the bottle back and began lathering his hair. Well, Laz was hogging the bed, but really Kaj had trouble falling asleep last night, and staying asleep. The scene of how he would propose kept playing in his head. "Hey, the water is just right. I think you should come test it out."

Before Jade slipped out of bed, she took a moment to lie in bed thinking about everything. A smile on her face the entire time. She never thought that this would be possible. That she would find this type of love that made her have butterflies in her stomach and that kept a permanent smile on her face. She had walls up around her heart, guarding from ever being hurt again, but the moment that she met Kaj, those walls slowly came tumbling down. The more they spent time together, the more she laughed and smiled, more than she ever had before. The real Jade was coming back again. Kaj made her feel seen, loved, respected, wanted, and safe. It was everything that she dreamed about, wrote in her journal, and even made Pinterest boards about. She even dreamt about the moment that she would meet her future partner's family. The moment she set foot into the Scov household, she was welcomed with open arms and hugs. It was perfect. Kaj’s parents were amazing. She didn’t have anything to be nervous about. Jade heard the shower running, and that is when she pulled herself out of her daydreams and walked into the bathroom. She shut the door behind her, taking a moment to check him out through the shower door. “Good morning, handsome.” She said, biting her lip. “Laz did try to kick me off the bed a few times when he was stretching out. But, other than that, I slept really good.” She said before arching her eyebrows. “Is that so? Well, I think I will take you up on that invitation.” Jade stripped off his shirt and her underwear before stepping into the shower with him. Her arms ran over his waist and back.

It was true. Felicity was right. Teachers are superheroes. We need to have our own names and capes. Teaching was not a profession for everyone and that is alright. For Jade it was what she was meant to do. She loved working with the kids and even seeing them learn so much from the start to the end of the year. Also, you have to have the drive and calling for it. "Thank you. I think I should come up with my own superhero name besides Ms. Little." she chuckled. She nodded. It was different but it was fun. "How much longer do you have to go for school? What is your major?" she asked. Jade wanted to know more about her niece. They did spend some more time talking and getting to know each other before Jade left. She made sure to give Felicity her number, so if she needed anything she could reach out, and even Jade would reach out to schedule a time and day for her students to come and tour the aquarium.

"Oh... 'Kay. Well, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you that." Victor looked over to Kaj with furrowed brows before looking back at Jade. Kaj could tell his father was slightly judging him, but there was reason that Kaj had never told Jade about it. Even though some days he still felt like the person who'd done those things, he knew he was a stupid kid when it happened, so he didn't know why he'd really kept it from her. Jade taking his hand brought him back into the conversation, and he gave her a small smile when she looked at him. "I am glad to hear that though. I never thought there'd be a day when my son would find someone. I'm very happy for you two." Victor gave her a wink. If anything, Kaj was grateful that Jade and his father were getting on so well, embarrassment aside. "Today's the lucky day. And of all the women I could've brought home, I chose the most beautiful one," he said, giving Jade's hand a squeeze. "Jade is one of the most compassionate people I've ever met. And the most patient. God knows you need it with me." Victor nodded. "Definitely do. Anyway, yeah. Picked up all the recipes over the years, then we met and I picked 'em up." After giving his mother a hug, Kaj smiled. "Look, she's not the best with names. She even forgets mine sometimes," he teased. "I'm sorry, Jade. I'm so excited to finally meet you. I apologize for sleeping in so late. I see you brought my grand-dogs too," Katherine said as Lazarus came over to greet her. "Lucky we moved. I don't know if there would have been room for everyone in that apartment. Was bad enough having everyone and Kaj's dog there, let alone all three of the dogs now." Katherine turned to Jade after pulling away from Kaj, wrapping her arms around her. "Hope you like all these hugs, babe," Kaj said with a laugh. "Happy to see you, mom. It's nice to be back home."

Jade gave a smile and nod of understanding and it’s okay. From what she read in stories and even heard from others, when meeting the one and significant other, parents tended to embarrass their children with stories from their childhood or even saying things they wished didn’t get said. Jade had never experienced that before. She kept her hand in Kajs and smiled back at him when he looked her way. “Thank you. I never thought I would find anyone either. I thought it would always be my dreams, romantic movies and books. But that all changed when Kaj came into my life.”she smiled at Victor and over at Kaj. Her cheeks turned red hearing Kaj compliment her. It happened each time he did. She squeezed his hand back sending a smile his way. “Always patient.” She turned her attention to Kajs mom. “I’m excited to meet you both too. Little nervous in the beginning but that’s slowly going away. Don’t be sorry. You deserve your sleep and relaxation too. Oh yes, that’s Tater Tot. He’s a lover and snacker too.”she said before being wrapped in a hug from Kajs mom. She hugged her back. Jade looked over at Kaj and nodded her head. “They’re perfect babe. I will take all the hugs.”she said.
