I think this is the most pivotal moment in their relationship (at least so far).
Like oh, is this someone whose whole worth as a person is dependent on how well he protects his sister (who basically resents him for doing a good job of that)? Has he also spent his entire life isolating himself from any real connection and making countless sacrifices at huge cost to himself? Has every important person in his life more or less preferred his sister, who’s either his responsibility or some kind of mysterious chaotic goddess to everyone?
And now here’s this psycho who’s been making his life a living hell since they landed just destroying his worldview out of nowhere with an attack hug that can literally only be interpreted as “I was so worried about you and I’m so happy you’re ok” with no warning or hesitation, just “I care about you too much to care if this amount of affection is weird at this early stage in our relationship.” And she does this directly in front of Octavia, who makes this little face like “and theere we go” because she knows what a huge deal it is for him that he’s connected with someone, even if she doesn’t necessarily know why.
And then he just has to process for a sec that she actually cares about him so much (and isn’t embarrassed about it like his sister is), before making the best decision of his life (and ours) to embrace the hugging (pun intended) and then they proceed to make a habit 😍🥰❤️
