I like Mediterranean food, just not lamb.
So I really like Mediterranean food, right? But when people think of it, they might think of the gyros and the kebabs. And the more "exotic" meat, lamb. But like, I don't like the concept of eating lamb. It's kinda weird to me. It has nothing to do with the preparation: Irish, Mediterranean, Indian. It has everything to do with the concept of eating a baby sheep feels a little off. Besides, my favorite Mediterranean food is the vegetarian stuff anyway. I could eat pita, hummus, and falafel everyday. And I love spanakopita and dolma, even if they are less popular.
If I were to go to a Mediterranean restaurant with someone I really liked, I would hope they would not pressure me to order lamb. I would hope they would be okay sharing tapas with me and not questioning why I'm not ordering any 'real food'. And like it wouldn't it be really weird if after I told them I didn't like lamb, they started taking me out to restaurants in hopes of me 'giving up' and trying lamb.?
That doesn't seem like a normal or healthy thing to do, does it?
Maybe my aversion to lamb is in some way psychological. Maybe if I grew up in another time or place, eating lamb would be seen as a necessary part of life. Kinda like how in certain places / times in human history, one could not feasibly be vegetarian. No problem with that. Still doesn't make me want it. Maybe going to therapy could help me get over my aversion to at least tolerate it. But like,
Why?
It's not like the human race is at risk of going extinct if I don't eat lamb.
I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR CHARACTERS NAME AND IM HERE TO COLLECT MY TAX
what is your characters name? why did you chose it? Was it random or does it have a meaning? Does your character have any nicknames?
u better answer
okay bye
This has a story!
SO I wrote an au of my characters and liked their new names so much that I just decided to keep them!
Hope (originally a very white person with a very weird quirk of being only 1 foot tall but really smart with gadgets) -> Esperanza Herrera (A race swap but with the last name being a reference to her more techy nature, being the equivalent of Smith.
Rostislav Volkov -> Benjamin "Beni" Antonov (Rostislav is a very traditional Russian name, but when I essentially had his father take over his original backstory, the name went with his father and I gave him a more 'American' name but still inspired by Jewish tradition. I also chose the name Antonov because I like the sound better and a few Russian immigrant musicians have that last name.)
Carter Farson -> Bryce Fairfield (Carter got changed so much in the au and I liked his personality more, so it became his main personality. It went from Carter Farson -> Bryce Wayne, a bad batman pun converting Carter to Wayne -> I kept Bryce but Farson was a silly last name so I changed it to Fairfield. Fairfield implying both wealth and he likes planes, Fairfield close to airfield)
Charlotte -> Clarity Fairfield (Charlotte use to be an acronym back when she was a fully android character and for the life of me I don't remember the acronym. Computer humanoid android replacement something something. I actually changed her name to Clarity back when she was a still an android/computer program. BUT later she became a cyborg and Bryce's sister, taking the last name Fairfield.)
Terry Anderson -> Terrance Lloyd Sanders (I just made Terry a nickname because people kept misgendering him. Sanders is the Jamaican equivalent of Anderson and his dad is Jamaican. His mother is Welsh and thus the middle name.)
Demetrius DeMilo (Chosen specifically because I thought the name 'Dr. Demento' was cool)-> Demetria DeMilo (She is a girl now)
Honorable mention: Aleksander Volkov also had his last name changed to match his bother's.
Special Extended Edition:
Hope was originally named because of her medical condition *and* she used to have an evil twin and thus needed a "good twin" type name.
Benjamin is the youngest of the sons of Jacob, so he has permanent younger sibling vibes embedded into his name.
Carter was originally an every-man but super smart genius dutoragonist type that would have probably been played by Chris Pratt. Hence the every-man dutoragonist name. See also John Carter of Mars.
Clarity was a very literal name for a computer program that was the focus of - bringing Clarity to- Dr. DeMilo's life. But it still works in the story because the dynamic is still there.
Anderson and the derived name Sanders means 'son of Anders / Andrew' which in turn Anders / Andrew means 'brave'. He is 'son of the brave', and his career is haunted by the expectation to live up to his father's impressive MI6 career.
The first time I heard of Dr. Demento was in a UFO Phil song. And I really liked the rhythm behind that name so I stole it.
Aleksander roughly translates to "savoir of mankind", a title that might seem ironic until about book 3. Real reluctant hero stuff.

Maybe -- just MAYBE -- don't spit on other characters and ships and works when the artist you congratulate and reblog from also draws those?
FANDOM ETIQUETTE NEEDS A RETURN SOOOO STRONGLY
Okay maybe I am into captialism just a little. (My Pepsi Co. merch collection btw)
If anyone knows of a resoanably prices Crystal Pepsi (Even an empty bottle, as you can see my standards are fairly low) I might be interested.
gimme a funny line that your characters say I wanna laugh
(said while treking through 104 degree heat)
"You know, sometimes I think... I think I should've listened to my uncle. He's a dentist, you know. He wanted me to become a dentist. He doesn't have to hike through sand dunes looking for some abandoned weather labratory. He gets good benifits. And- and he has a boat."
(Pauses for a drink of water)
"I don't have a boat..."
I sold out and started a Ko-fi to help suppliment bills n stuff. If you know anyone looking to comission either and artist, graphic designer, or editor let me know. And if you'd like to comission or tip link is now in blog bio. It's not completely finished yet but ya know. All my Star Trek stuff will remain free and posted on Tumblr but I'm planning so behind the scenes type things if you are interested in my process.

Not all dogs have jobs and I think they should get to wear little vests too
reblog if you wear glasses. too many mutuals don't know they have glasses wearers in their midsts
(I wish sometimes I could write my whole novel like this)
Got back his headphones,
And a rat-tailed comb
Hasn't carried an ID on him since he left home.
Got fifty dollars in his wallet,
But he swears he had more
Somebody paid his bail for him, he wondered what for.
She met him at the diner
Said, "Have a seat son,
I hear you're the one to call to get a job done."
Mirror amber glasses
Held the secrets in her eyes
"It depends on what the job is, and if you can pay the price."
You know I think I'm asexual sometimes (but not aroace). Might explain why I write couples like "tee-hee they are so in love. They *kiss* and they *snuggle*, they *risk their lives for eachother*" and then step back and, "Well, I guess they probably have sex too? IDK. Not important."
Me realizing that America is 13 years older than France.

4 AM Lore Drop:
Rostislav V. Antonov had three children after seeking asylum in America and having his implants removed. But he still had Imposnium I as well as active M-Resistor inside his body. His wife had a difficult pregnancy with his first two sons (Twins - Alek and Mikeal) but it was her first pregnancy and nobody knew about the specific risks and very few had access to his complete medical history as it was still classified. Both children were born with Imposnium II and M-Resistor in their bloodstream, which had crossed into their mother during her pregnancy. This was unknown to the couple at the time. They later had another child, Benijamin, and this pregnancy was less difficult due to the lower concentrations of Imposnium II. Still, she continued to suffer complications from what was only later discovered to be excessive Imposnuim II exposure. This caused a form of spinal degeneration that left her paralyzed from the waist down. However, once the cause was discovered she was artificially supplied M-Resistor and the degeneration stopped, but could not be reversed.
Mrs. Antonov's case served as a warning of the risks of exposure to Imposnium I and II, and was a major contributing factor for why human experimentation involving Imposnium was outlawed in the United States.
