I am deeply honored to have worked with Nike on their first ever Gender-Neutral campaign. In college, I created a photo series about professional female football players for my thesis. These athletes were almost completely ignored by American press leaving them invisible. I was interested in how genderless they were once they padded up and put on helmets. Did the viewer’s sense of brutality, power, and skill dim once realized that it was women in the act? When working through the project I spent a lot of time considering how the clothes were worn and the manner in which they are sold to us (women’s and men’s sections, the color ways, comfort levels, and fleshiness, etc). I realized the decisions we all made in dressing ourselves, was only partially ours. Despite that, I held a great deal of faith that there would be change in the future. It feels amazing to have been a part of a tiny step in creating a more inclusive and equitable world ahead.

Soooo excited to see my photo of Carolyn Murphy with her beautiful new Shinola tote in the June/ July issue of Harpar’s Bazaar. I’ve seen Carolyn’s beautiful face everywhere since the 90′s, and it was such an honor to get to shoot her. She makes me feel like a tween with an issue of Tiger Beat in hand.

Last August Emotive created a fun ad series with Optus and Apple for the release of the new iPhone last fall. I worked with the team to create images for their print campaign around Australia. I’ve never been to Australia, so I’ve only heard that the images ended up all around towns, cities, lovely Australian malls, and lots of Optus stores. Some day I hope to see Cuba Gooding Jr image hanging on the side of a bus stop, but for now, we will both have to use these images and imagine it.

This past Friday evening, T Magazine sent writer Janelle Zara, and I up to Laurel Canyon to join NY to LA ex-pat brand Simon Miller for a dinner soiree in celebration of their FW18 collection. The food, was incredible - thanks to the graces of musician & chef, Alina Hardin. Each place setting was gifted with a miniature Cassie Griffin ceramic vase - who’s work I’ve been a fangirl of for some time.

Today, in Paris, women and friends from all over the world, marched for Women’s Day, and most importantly their rights and injustices. Echoing the massive marches that took place in The United States, voices called for equal pay, health and medical entitlements, an end to sexism, racism, and sexual orientation discriminations, and an overall distain for President Trump.

I’ve been more or less living in Paris for the past 6 months. It is not an escape for what is unfolding in the US. Local friends from all over Europe, Oceania, Asia and the US discuss the latest news daily. I read the newspapers the way I once binge watched an unseen television series. In fact, I religiously find myself nervously reflecting on how the unfolding of the real US government is remarkably similar to some of the scripts of some Netflix shows. Today’s march drowned out that buzz of anxiety and filled the streets with solidarity, virtue, and a shitload of obstinance.

After a massive website overhaul, changing home base from LA to Paris, then back to LA and onward to NY, then to Paris (again), and Ibiza, then back to Paris, and then NY again.. (San Francisco in October!) - I’m finding some goodies that may have been missed during the transition. This was a favorite post from back in January. If it’s your first time seeing this post; amongst the current political chaos - I don’t believe that months passed will dampen anything, but maybe act as a punctual reminder to the fury many of us felt with our freshly elected idiot. Keep it going folks!

Zoe Lister-Jones recently directed her first movie, Band Aid. It premiered in theaters this week (it also played Sundance!). The coolest part of it, is that Zoe, and producer Natalia Andersen, managed to put together a crew made entirely of women. Thats every single person, from the Grip to the Camera Dept to the PAs. I provided still photography for the film☝️, but the coolest part was being a part of such a radically different team. Looking forward to seeing more productions make a point to have women in their crew. Let’s make it so that some day it doesn’t have to be a thing when all women make a film.
