Writing this with mainly #tadc in mind, but I wonder if the reason fans are so rabid these days (at least, it feels *more* than in decades past) is that, in the earlier days of TV, you only had one, maybe two shots of seeing a new episode once it aired.
Unless you were fancy and could have a DVR, the next time you were gonna see it was during a marathon or when it randomly aired again. Or once/if they released the season on DVD, which you then had to buy.
These days with a lot of things being on-demand, if you're able to watch it once, you're able to watch it as many times as you can stand it, whether that's Netflix or YouTube or Poob. You can let yourself obsess with it. And that may lead you to think that you know more than the Word of God.
That TV model really encouraged us to be "normal", to speak somewhat pejoratively.
We've got to go back to keeping canon and fanon separate. And remember that there's real flesh and blood and tears and distress that we're hurtling words at. A real Person. Even and especially if that person is shaped like a goose.
Something I just thought of that I really haven't seen mentioned by others
It's heavily, heavily implied that long-term (or heavy or intense or something) modifiers by Caine caused Scratch's abstraction. So how light can the modifiers be that poses no risk to them abstracting? What's the line on how awful they could be?
Basically, my question is: will we see Caine using modifiers as punishments?
Zooble's been threatened several times, to the point where they show zero concern to those threats. What's stopping Caine from making good on some of those? Even if they are just "temporary"
if Jax had entered into Caine's Magical Changing Boothā¢, would he have received a Blue swimsuit?
based on this TADC beach ad having Jax's BLONK! covered by a Red seashell? probably not
the Red and Blue theme throughout the show means a lot and i don't know how yet

So the red fish is the one that said "I'm the one that tells lies", huh
The red fish did. The Caine fish
the princess and the dragon are in a symbiotic relationship actually. i don't have specifics but i'll get around to it
āi wish we could see adaptations where sherlock holmes hates the rich and is allowed to be kind to those around him and uses his abilities to support societyās underdogsā elementary was doing this back in 2012. this was only episode 4.
You're making me look foolish, stupid / Man, you're so ruthless, fuck you

One of the weird things about 21st century life is that in every majority-christian nation, the system is set up so that people with the most resources receive the most care and support. So, like, if you go to a hospital and you have a lot of money, you get treated first.
But in the Christian sacred texts, God is extremely clear about how social orders should be set up, which is that the last should be first to care and support. So the poor and marginalized should have access to the best care and support, and whatever resources are left after the poor are well-supported should be used in service of those who arenāt poor.
I think it is weird that God is so unambiguous about this, and people are so unambiguously into God and Godās will for us, and yet we donāt do much to amend these systems.
(We ARE better at providing care for the poor than we used to be, which is why there is so much less poverty today than there was 30 or 50 years ago. But itās utterly obvious that we do NOT have a system that offers preferential care and support for the poor. Instead we offer preferential care to the richāwhich feels so natural and inevitable to us that I often canāt see past the confines of this injustice. But it isnāt natural or inevitable. There was a time when monarchy felt inevitable, after all.)
"As I prepare to marry the person I love in Florida, I vacillate between excitement and dread."
Hope is a thing with wings, Iām told, and this state is chock-full of birds as well as mosquitoes. We experience the pleasure and the pain simultaneously. I want to fight for the home that I love, and that means staying here, regardless of my exhaustion. Clinging and sticking like a sandspur into Floridaās side. I donāt see this as a burden, but rather a chance to wake up every day and work on our collective future. Itās also a privilege; not everyone can afford to take this kind of stance.
Surely You Will Be Saved One Day: The Mountain Goatsā āRomans 10:9ā | Bandcamp Daily
I never believed my friends were going to hell, and when I first heard āRomans 10:9ā I took it as a sign.
I lost my religion for pretty predictable reasons. Evangelical Christianity, with all its colonizing urges, demands certain things, things I could not find it in me to provide: I was not white, and I came out, so the rest was only gravity. The thing I want to talk about isnāt why I left, itās what it felt like to leave. What it felt like was anger, burning deep in my gut and then higher and higher. What it felt like was love, for my friends first and then for myself, for the stranger I was becoming. What it felt like was fear, slow and creeping, because I was severing myself from everything I had known and believed and made myself do; and then suddenly I was unmoored, a tiny boat on the unfathomable ocean, no anchor and no compass, trying to row. And in the midst of this, the sting of irony, sharp and sweet because, after all that, after everythingāI still believed in God.
When you did your finals on a Markiplier production
Your local film student had just finished a semester of Critical Study of Film. Yes, I know the name sounds generic. Prof said that on the first day and it will change. We discussed all sorts of things in class like control societies in The Truman Show and the heterotopia in Squid Game, as well as the abject in almost everything since that is prof's specialty. To be fair, I would talk about the abject in every film I watched for hours too.
For our final, my group and I did a presentation and essay on Interactive Films. Of course, I covered A Heist with Markiplier. I want to share with you guys and @markiplier himself (hopefully he sees this) the project. I will update prof's grading later.

ps. forgot to mention each of our essays were supposed to be ~ 2.5k words so it will be a long read but it's worth it
Help Save the FrogFamily Home
This community Iāve built has been so incredibly generous to me over the years. Part of me feels I donāt deserve to ask for another thing. But I am facing desperation and I donāt know what else to do.
Iāve had a rough couple of years. First, my beloved corgi, Otis, passed away. Then my momās health took a turn. I had to take care of her all on my own. And eventually, COVID took her from me. Then my dadās body began to fail him. I had to be his full-time caretaker. I had to watch his body and mind slowly deteriorate until he finally passed away in March.
I wish I could just take some time to mourn my parents and heal my soulā¦
But life decided against that.
We tried to make plans so that I would be taken care of after my fatherās death. That I would be able to stay in our family home for as long as I desired. But those plans are falling apart at the moment.
Lawyers and probate and debt collectors, oh my.
There is a chance we can get everything sorted, but all indicators show that it could take a while before that happens. Possibly a long while. And my disability payments arenāt even enough to cover the mortgageāmuch less all the other bills and expenses.
I need to buy time.
Literally.
I need to extend my financial runway long enough to get things sorted. The longer that runway, the better the chances are I can figure all of this out.
I need time to sell all of my parentsā valuable belongings. I need time to fix up our very large separated garage so I can rent it out as a workshop or storage. I need time to fix up the house so it is suitable for a roommate. And I need time to work with social security so I can possibly find financial independence for life.
Unfortunately, without that time, I could face homelessness. Iām sure I could find a place to stay for a while, but I would lose the only home Iāve ever known. The home my mom and dad spent a lifetime fixing up and perfecting. The place in this world I feel most safe and comfortable.
Iāve already lost so much recently. Iām not sure I could bear losing my home as well.
If I lost my home Iād probably have to live on couches for up to two years until government housing was available. And then Iād have to spend the rest of my days in a small single room apartment. I know there are people who would feel lucky to have that, but Iād really prefer to stay in my house if possible. And I donāt think anyone would blame me for wanting that. Especially when all I need to make that happen is a little time.
So I am asking all of you to help buy me some time.
Every $1200 equals another month I have to sort things out. I honestly donāt know how much time I need. I would hope 3 to 6 months would be enough. But the wheels of bureaucracy can move frustratingly slow. So the more time I have, the better the chances are I can save my home and secure my livelihood.
Thank you so much for reading this.
