everybody's fool;

Lucas felt a little better when she said she wouldn’t turn him in, though not by much. “I’m sorry, mum.”

“Never again, Lucas.” Jackie told him, looking over at him sternly. She had lost her best friend and she had did it for him.

Lucas froze. “Y-You’d turn me in?” He asked quietly. “Mum…” He knew he’d never do it again, but the fact that she’d report her own son made it so much worse.

Jackie thought about this for a moment before shaking her head. “Never. I couldn’t or wouldn’t.” She reached out and touched his cheek. “No more. If you need money or anything I’m here. Just ask.”

Lucas shook his head. “No, I sold what I had.” He admitted. 

“Promise me right now that you will never do this again. And I will not go to Lauren or anyone else. No one has to know.” 

“I-” Lucas couldn’t admit to her that he was just doing it for the extra cash, especially not when she said she was disappointed in him. “I’m sorry.” He muttered, looking down at his hands.

“Do you have anymore?” Jackie questioned, looking over at him. Last thing she ever thought she would be was disappointed in her son. It was honestly something she never thought would happen. 

Lucas nodded, before looking at the image on her phone. “How the fu-” He quickly stopped himself from cursing in front of his mother. “Mum- That’s not- I mean-” He sighed. “I’m sorry…”

“Who’s drugs are selling? Do you owe someone money?” She questioned, taking her phone back and setting it down. “Lucas, I would do anything for you. I love you. You are my son. But this I’m disappointed in you.”

Lucas smiled, grabbing the dishes to go set the table. Once the table was set he nodded, going to grab her phone for her. “Why do you need your phone? You always told me dinner time was sacred, that’s why we had no phones at the table.”

“There is still no phones at the dinner table. Hence why we are doing it here.” Jackie took the phone, and pulled up the message and handed it back over to Lucas. “Please tell me that I did the right thing by ruining my friendship and that you will never do that again.” 

“Want me to set the table?” Lucas asked. While things had been weird in their house, he was still a good son, and he wanted to help his mother out as much as he could. “I was thinking maybe we could talk about what happened at the wedding tonight…”

“Please, I’m making your favorite.” Jackie said this as she turned back to making them dinner.  Yes, things had been weird and she hated that but they would work things out. She just knew it. They always did. Hearing him, she stopped making dinner for a moment. “Yes, we probably should. Can you bring me my phone?” She questioned, before finishing up dinner.

Once she heard the knock the door, the brunette got up. She had told Lucas to stay at the reception and have fun. Moving over to the door, she let the blonde in. “Hey.” She moved aside, closing the door behind her. “I know how it looked but it’s complicated. And I hate that it is. But I can do my best to explain. Can I get you anything?” 

Jo: Sure. I'll be there soon.

Jo: Whatever is best for you :)

Jo: If you want. I'm around, just let me know..

Jo: That's good then.

Jo: It's.. fine. Just a bit surprising. You know after what you told me earlier.

Jo: Hope you'll feel better tomorrow..

Jackie: I can explain..

Jo: Well, that was...

Jo: Interesting.

Jo: Are you alright?

Jackie: Yeah..it was.

Jackie: I'm fine.
