So, when it comes to the game, I always felt that it has a sense of nostalgia. Nostalgia for a place I’ll never be in. It’s strange being put into a point of view of being Mae and not being her. She is our player character so we’re kind of expected to like her and put our own personality in her, and yet the way characters are written there are points where I wanna punch Mae. I want to tell her to shut up and to grow up. At this point we’re put into the point of view of her friends and families, where we don’t know anything about Mae. And when it comes to the reveal of why Mae came back near the end of the game…it hurt…bad. Because there was this vulnerability which I related to. 

 But I adore this. To no end. It’s like, this is another life we’re playing in. For me, there were points where I felt so immersed that I was no longer playing as Mae, but another character (like a conscious). I felt what Bea felt at parts, I couldn’t relate with Mae. I understood Gregg. And while I couldn’t entirely relate to Angus, the hang out with him made me really think. But it wasn’t always THEM that I was seeing. It took a bit to realize that I was imagining my own friends instead. 

I also connected with Mae on several parts. And I’ve learned from her. And while I’ll never understand Mae for all she is because I’ll never understand her mentally problems, I really grew to adore her. I felt as if I wanted to be her friend. And maybe this is all just ranting at this point…but these characters I just love.

This game, seems boring to people because they see it as a “boring game” instead of seeing it for what it is. It’s a story. And while some parts were…uh…let’s say they took a bit of turns I didn’t want to…at the very end I got why they were placed like it. The ending, although as open as it is, is something else I very much like. Because it gives the thought that everyone is going to keep living without us. And I love and hate it, because I want to see what happens. I think that a good story is once we want to continue even after it’s over. It may not ever happen, but the game will always hold a special place to me. I’ve played this game 4 times (2 regular-2 weird autumn), and every time something new clicks.
