Days 9 & 10: Jax has been a touch under the weather so we have been taking it easy with the buttons. But he’s been working hard to know that different buttons mean different rewards!! (He is getting banzos off-camera which makes him very exicted!)
Day 8 : Teaching Jackson multiple buttons...
Today we trained with his “scritches” button and placing “banzo” right next to it. He picked up quickly!!
We also have a “permanent” place for his two living room buttons. We are keeping “scritches” and added “love you” after this video was taken ♥️ he will get a kiss and hug when he presses his new button!
Day 7 : Jackson is asking for “scritches” without us holding the button or even pointing toward it! We can tell he is so proud 👑
Now to consider finding a permanent place for the button to live... we have been placing the button in front of him for him to learn. Almost time!!
{BANZO BONUS}

Day 6 : I do believe it has *clicked* !!
Heading back to “scritches” today, Jackson sure seems to grasp the concept of button = reward. Woo hoo!!
Note: right after this, he pressed his “how do” button at the back door telling us he wanted outside. Smart boy!!
Day 5 : Doing a little something extra, to see if he merely does it for treats {banzos!}, will he grasp the button concept quicker?
Answer: meh, about the same.
Back to “scritches” and “outside” only, until he gets it!
Day 4 : Still training for “scritches” ... he can be super lazy about it, but we think he’s starting to get it.
Day 3 : This is so fun watching Jackson take in the is concept little by little... he will “how do” the outside button on command now - just a matter of time until he does it on his own.
That said, we added a new button: “scritches”
The new button lives in the family room and we began this training today. Added trainer treats for a little added incentive. He did very well and we trained for about 45 minutes!
Day 2 : Jackson is making great progress with both Phil and myself. We only do button training when he indicates that he wants to actually go out; no instigating.
He will “how do” with the button in our hands, and we praise him & let him out when he touches/presses the button completely.
Trying to keep consistent so he can continue to pick up quickly!

Day 1 : We started pressing the button every time we went outside {button is right by the back door} and telling Jackson that he can “how do” the button for outside.
His evening’s progress in the video!
Day 0 : Introducing Jackson to his “outside” button
Greetings! I’m Jackson’s mom, Lucy.
I’ve created this blog to keep track of our husky’s daily/weekly progress in AAC {augmentative & alternative communication}.
Thanks for following and rooting for our boy as he learns this new method of communicating with us...
Jackson Snow
... is a 4(ish) year old husky(ish) mix. He came into our lives October 2019 and has always been an excellent communicator. After being inspired by Alexis Devine and Christina Hunger, we decided to gift Jackson (and ourselves) with a few recordable buttons to see if he would eventually pick up on this unique and exciting skill!
