I just took down all the art from my refrigerator (and put it in a box since I’m moving). All the art on my fridge was done by the children who have been my patients.

This one is particularly precious to me. The little girl who drew this is no longer alive–she passed a few years ago. She was in the hospital frequently, and I cared for her many times in my journey from student to nurse.

I “won” this picture from her as a student. She was auctioning her drawings off in exchange for hugs. This drawing cost me 4 hugs. She was a tiny girl, but her big personality filled up the entire pediatric department. Even on her bad days, she never ceased to make me smile. She left such an impression on me, I don’t think she is someone I can ever forget.
