realizing that reading the Harry Potter series was the last thing i read before losing my childhood vigor for reading is the bane of my existence.
im tired of staring at my ceiling and still not having a life altering epiphany.
life is dumb and childish, and i donât like that in supposed to be an adult when life hasnât even grown up yet
you said i was special
then you let me go
as if i was ordinary

âââYouâre not a monster,â I said. But I lied. What I really wanted to say was that a monster is not such a terrible thing to be. From the Latin root monstrum, a divine messenger of catastrophe, then adapted by the Old French to mean an animal of myriad origins: centaur, griffin, satyr. To be a monster is to be a hybrid signal, a lighthouse: both shelter and warning at once.ââ

we argue, i say iâm angry, but really iâm just hurt that you donât trust me enough to believe me when i tell you how i feel.
Did you fully heal?
I donât know what that means.
If I break a bone, it can be set and cast. If I gash myself - on a nail or a rock or a knife - they can pull the skin closed with stitches. Maybe with enough time itâll even look as though nothing ever happened.
But for other times, there are remnants.
Once, in the restaurant kitchen, I sliced the top of my thumb off; wrapped up, collected it, and went to sit in outpatients for five hours. I left, went home, and came back again. When the new triage nurse on-duty saw me, she declared I should have been rushed in immediately, that the top of my thumb was probably dead - and still, they managed to save it. It has a wrap-around scar that looks like a shark bite and no feeling at all to speak of. I can barely use it anymore. Does that count as âhealedâ?Â
What am I using for measurement? What requirements are you asking me to fill? Is fully healed defined by wholeness, completeness; wellness; or maximum functionality? Because none of those are the same thing.Â
My finger is technically whole again. It did not die, it still moves, it is well. But it functions like a rusted hinge.
There are wounds and diseases deeper and far worse than anything we could do to our physical selves. I have never been prescribed anything that could fix my âwholenessâ. I have no time for yoga or money for vitamins, so Iâm stalling on âwellnessâ. But - and this is important - BUT I can still perform at peak function fine.Â
The day after they sewed my finger back on I went to work. My employers have always praised me for my reliability.Â
On the days where I donât work, itâs not my fingerâs fault Iâm not getting out of bed. My clumsy hands are not the reason I donât feed myself. But if I open the curtains or the dog cries - for attention, for outside, for food - then I can remind myself. I am learning to try even when it comes from no genuine place inside of me.
I am learning how to be less broken but that is not the same as healing. I donât know if thatâs a real thing. I think mostly you made it up.
when Hozier said âidealism sits in prisonâ i think he deserved to be knighted.
i personally love the way bubbles look, theyâre beautiful and shimmer in the sun, and thereâs always one that stands out when you blow many out of a tube of bubbles. or when youâre standing at the shore and the water is rushing in and out and there are thousands of bubbles in the foam and water but you pick one out of the multitude and watch it grow and return to the ocean to live freely.
i just want to be a bubble.

fatal flaws are just the way we humanize people who we believe are perfect because theyâre not us.
what if i just yeet my brain out of oblivion? like i wonder how that would go?Â
i feel like a wrung out paper towel. ya know when you just ball it up to squeeze out the water and when you try to open it back up it rips and you throw it away and get a new one. yeah, thatâs what i feel like. like someone has wrung me out and didnât take their time to be gentle to open me back up and i ripped.Â
not me writing a letter to a boy whoâs hurt me and is kind of a jerk, nah, not me.Â
also side note: iâm just listening to When the sun goes down by the artic monkeys and thats really not helping it either.Â

âWhat do you want from me?â
âI just want a goddamn hug! Because a hug shows you care, it reminds me that I have someone to turn to. All I want from you is a hug because it means Iâm not alone, is that so much to ask?â
