the headcanon is a grave misreading of the characters but i like it in my mindhole where nightlight is sort of a base being with one sole instinct purpose to guard MIM,

i like the idea that MIM resurrected jack just to give nightlight a vessel and continue his fight against the darkness pitch causes, and didn’t really care about anything else (jacks own well-being, memories, livelihood etc) jacks willingness for self sacrificing and heroism recklessness etc just makes it kinda

easy

ofc MIM is also probably just a force in my hc too, just like the embodiment of the moon it’s light etc, no actual direct communication w jack, just seeks out a vessel for our boy

in my headcanon he’s aboriginal (+mixed), originally his hair was intended to be coils rather than locs, but i’ll be honest i dont really care and draw them either way. are the loops a possible hairstlye? i’ve seen people do it but whatever. he actually had a full outfit with a knotted rope around his waist to hold up his pants, it would knot at the back to look like a bunny tail, funny huh!

it was important for me to keep his egg eyes, and for some reason i was convinced his nose skin was brown-ish… so like he’d obviously have brown skin right?! maybe i was re-affirming my own biases
