"I didn't." He says, sitting up as he hears JJ come in. "Couldn't think of a good one."

"Sad. Heh- I brought candles." JJ dropped the candles and fidgets on the bed-side table, nearly dropping a few. "If you reach to your left, the one closest to you is lavender. There's two lined up behind it, left one is lemon grass, the other is sandelwood. The one on it's side is herbal pine, whatever- haha- that means."

"Aha! You did live. Figured you would." JJ giggles, though they make an effort to be quiet in the hospital. The window is open from where they crawled in. "I brought you snacks. I don't think you can eat them- heh- but figured you might need them since you somehow didn't have snacks at your base. Also, more stickers!"

He cringes at the instantly recognizable voice, turning his head away from the window. He moves to his side, so he doesn't have to face the kid.

"You're loud." He says, simply.

"You're mean." JJ pouts, just shuts up.

They make themselves comfortable on the floor below the window. JJ knows they aren't the brightest, despite what Mister J and the stupid Bat said, but they can tell the Knight was avoiding having to look at them.

They sit for a while, watching, before they get bored and start wandering around the room. "Do you want any decorations? It's so booooring in here."

He stays silent, focusing on the noise of wind from the open window, the gentle breeze at his back. The cars and the birds and the traffic in the streets below. He tries to imagine it.

"How boring is it?" He asks, raising his head a little bit. Hospital rooms have never been the type to be interesting, but he wouldn't know if this one was particularly dull or not.

"Super duper boring." JJ answers, peering up at the bare off-white walls with a scowl. "I think someone tried to make it more cheery by painting the walls off-white instead of white, but now it just looks kinda pathetic."

After a moment, they added, "And there's no decorations or colors." JJ didn't see how this could be helpful to healing, to be in a dull, mind numbing room.

He cringes at the instantly recognizable voice, turning his head away from the window. He moves to his side, so he doesn't have to face the kid.

"You're loud." He says, simply.

"You're mean." JJ pouts, just shuts up.

They make themselves comfortable on the floor below the window. JJ knows they aren't the brightest, despite what Mister J and the stupid Bat said, but they can tell the Knight was avoiding having to look at them.

They sit for a while, watching, before they get bored and start wandering around the room. "Do you want any decorations? It's so booooring in here."

JJ flinches at the mention of Joker. "True. So bright colors are a yes? Maybe stickers! And acid! Okay, anything else? Do I need to hack anything or can I sneak in?"

Knight stands up, grabbing his pistols with shaking hands. He steps back. "No. No, you're not here. You're not supposed to be here. They wouldn't... you're not real."

"That's mean, I'm plenty real! Heh- Although, maybe none of this is real!" JJ swings their feet from where they've perched on a window ceil, giggling. "It's so boring in here! You need more color!"

He starts to fire at JJ, walking back into the wall. "No, no, no, no." He murmurs, frantically. "Stop that. You're not here. You're not."

JJ peers at them, eyes wide, manic. "Stop what? Existing? I can't do that." They giggle again. "If I gave up that'd mean Mister J and Batsy won, and that can't happen! And you didn't answer my question. What happened to all the guys that were here?"

He shakes his head, continuing to fire even when the ammo's out. "You're not here." He says, sliding down to the ground. "Disbanded. They're gone."

JJ stares at the bullets, unbothered. Mister J had done worse to them, and the Arkham Knight's aim was worse than his. "Why? I thought you all were pretty close. Are you sure you don't want some stickers? Would it make you feel better?"

He flinches. "No. No, no, no. Don't do anything. Don't take me back there." He says, quickly. He doesn't want to go back there, he's been behaving, he's been proper there's no reason–

"I'm not doing anything!" JJ protests, then laughs. "Are you that scared of me? Am I that bad?" They knew most people were terrified of them, either for their manic demeanor or their likeness to Mister J, but this was a whole new level. "I'm not going to hurt you- ha- probably. Just stop being so boring!"

He scoffs, staring at the ground. Then he looks up, desperately. "I won't be boring. Don't take me back. I can be anything."

"Really?" Another giggle, and JJ grins. "So can I put stickers on your helm? I think it's only fair after you shot at me. Seriously, ha- why do people keep pointing shooty or sharp things at me? It's so not funny!"

He winces at the giggling, trying to stay deathly still. His eyes are closed beneath the helmet, but he nods.

"Do you like stars or smiley faces?" JJ asked, putting several of both on before the other could respond. JJ seemed to have several sheets of stickers folded into their bright yellow hoodie's pocket. "Do you want glow in the dark stickers? I know they're kind of ugly but I don't like the dark and they make me feel better, so maybe you'll like em too haha-!"

He stiffens at the laughter, glancing away. "Either. Either is good, Sir." Internally, he's trying to be anywhere but there. The clown kid looks just like– Don't think about him.

"Sir? Ew!" JJ makes a face, it pulls at the scars around their lips into a twisted line and they flinch. "You're like twice my age!" That, and they aren't quite sure how they feel about the masculine title. They've gotten used to plurals, having multiple people in their head. "You didn't answer my question about the glow in the dark stickers."

"Okay." He says. Shouldn't have said that. But all he can think of is how that's the only thing he was ever permitted to call–

"The.. glow in the dark ones are fine."

JJ laughs, pondering over a cat or a dog glow in the dark sticker, deciding on the cat after a long moment. "There we go! Now you're all colorful!"

They step back, shoving the rest of the stickers back into their pocket. "I don't suppose you have any snacks?" They knew they probably weren't supposed to harass random adults for food, but JJ didn't particularly care.

He shakes his head. "I don't." Knight says, simply. He doesn't keep food on him really ever these days.

"Aww, sad." They giggle one last time, before sweeping into a dramatic bow. "Then I don't really need anything else... See ya later?"

He nods, hoping horribly that he'll never see him again. "Okay."

JJ smiles, waving aggressively before skipping away. "Bye-bye!"
