Some of the roads/streets on Reykjavik, capital of Iceland.  It was not as “snowy” as I expected but wind chill could bring temperature down to -8c but it could be quite wet on certain days when it keeps drizzling incessantly.. not enough to put on your hood but enough to wet you thoroughly.  A bit like London’s ‘wet and gloomy’ weather.

Tjörnin (The Pond)is a prominent small lake in central Reykjavik, with bird feeding on the lake shore, a popular pastime and is being called "the biggest bread soup in the world".  In winter, hot thermal water is released into part of the pond to thaw the ice so that birds do not migrate out during this period.

Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, home of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Icelandic Opera, has two restaurants and four halls, with the largest one accommodating up to 1,800 seated patrons.  The building was designed by Danish firm Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with visual artist Olafur Eliasson.  In 2013, the building won the European Union’s Mies van der Rohe award for contemporary architecture.

Sun Voyager (Sólfar in Icelandic) is an aluminium sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavik. Sun Voyager was designed as a dreamboat, or as an ode to the sun symbolising light & hope, or  the promise of new, undiscovered territory.

The Perlan Museum - Wonders of Iceland opened in 2017 and is situated on the hill Öskjuhlíð, overlooking the city of Reykjavik. Hot water storage tanks were there for decades and in 1991, a hemispherical structure was placed on top of the tanks.

The statue of Leifur Eiríksson was a gift from USA to Iceland where both the statue and the block it stands on, weighs 50 tons.

Iceland’s Reykjevik International Airport.  Temperature was between -3 to -6C, still bearable.

Very close to Tiger’s Nest.  Contrary to what we expect of monk, i.e arcane, old fashioned and boring lifestyle - well, it did not seem so.  They were using iphone, samsung (android) phones, facebook, etc.  Glad to see them keeping up with the trend - afterall they are still human and deserve to have some measure of happiness.  #monks #modern #iphone #samsung #takingpictures #happy #tired #awesome #verynear #tigersnest #paro #bhutan #leica
