Breaking Routine || Jonathan and Nathan || 07/23/2014
Finally he had gotten a well deserve rest from Division. Granted that his wound was still bad, sometimes he had to head over to his handler-neighbor the one who helped patch Emma up just to redo the bandages and stitches on his wound without having Division to check up on him or him having to fly back to Division. It's not like he could help it - that he was shot and that it would reopen anyway. Jonathan might be able to just stay at home and rest, but that doesn't mean he had to let himself stay still - after all, fresh air was back - or as fresh as it could be in Washington. As well as get the grocery, walk along the usual path, take the car etc.Â
It was getting to be a routine, especially after his moments in Division. Back then he had a job yes, and that at least took his mind off of the nightmare he was in. But now, it was just him and even as he tried to forget the wincing pain that shot up his leg, his arm as well as the look of the healing scars and pain on his whole body it wasn't as easy to forget. He could wish and hope that things would end, but it wouldn't at least not now - and if lucky, maybe Wesley would help him out find a schooling or anything that he could do to pass the time.
Right now, Jonathan was back from walking from the grocery, he was actually planning to ride his car- after all, it would have helped in emergencies if ever his body pained again, but he decided to just walk it out- it wasn't as far and if he was going to make his body strengthen and tolerate the pain this was it. What he wasn't expecting was on his way home a soccer ball got kicked and decidedly blast it's strength on thigh, normally it would have just hurt, but the force of it - something he just laughed off when the players looked at him - left him feeling a bit weak, he could feel blood coating the front of his jeans. "Fuck..." he breathed as he continued to - almost limply - walk back to his apartment. It was too far to visit Emma's handler, he could at least maybe see first if he himself could heal it.
Half limping back to his apartment, he hoped no one would stare at how awkwardly he moved with grocery bags in the front of his body rather than on the sides. After all, he had to hide the growing blood stain.

I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life youâre proud of. If you find that youâre not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

Book Geek Quote #549

How can you expect to protect Emma if you can't even protect yourself? Look at you. You were tortured and couldn't even escape by yourself.
Thatâs tough coming from you - letâs see you get out of missions like that.Â
And who says Iâve got to do it for Emma?
Asshole.

Going Home || Jonathan & Emma || 7/9/2014
Emma didnât like being in Division for any longer than she had to, but with Jonathan there, she wanted to linger around for a bit. Besides, it was better if she was being âproductiveâ for Division than doing something bad that might get her injured right? At least thatâs what sheâs been saying to make herself feel like she wasnât there just for him. But the thing was she was there just for him. She didnât care about training recruits or wanting to help Division. She wanted Jonathan or at least to be near him and if she was going to have to be stuck there then so be it.
She was being slightly more subtle about seeing him, only going to medical when she or one of the recruits sheâs training gets injured, which is almost every day with her going hard on them. They need to be toughened up though and a little blood never hurt anyone. She had a slight sprain in her wrist, however, so she went to the doctor to get it check up. As she stepped in a nurse smiled at her and gave her a jacket and keys.
"Heâs ready when you are. We already told him that heâs good to go." Emma blinked, not understanding what she was saying. "What?" But the nurse left and Emma went into Jonathanâs room to ask him if she knew what was going on. But as she stepped inside, she figured it out. Jonathan was leaving today and she was apparently volunteered to take him home.
Jonathan didn't know how much more in terms of time would he stay in Division. He had wanted out a week or so ago and because of the mission he was forced to stay in. Not like he could go anywhere anyway... He was a bit glad though that he was already allowed to start moving two days ago - that at least lightening up his mood. The redhead nurse who probably had a crush on him didn't want him to leave. after her /very/ tender attendance to him it wasn't a secret... but the doctor was adamant that he did leave - probably because the doctor had a crush on the redhead or whatever. Still the possibility that he was able to finally stand up gave him more strength.Â
He was in one of his trying to move moments as he walked slowly, the ECG cables wrapping him up to test his heart if it was steady enough. A part of him was no doubt glad that Division had a lot of medical supplies - very high end for these cases, it gave him a saving grace that at least they would try to work and bring their agents back to life rather than find them expendable to kill them just as easily. When he was in his nth time to walk around and stretch, the redhead nurse watching him with intensity, he saw someone from above the fogged up part of the window - his height definitely helping him. He stopped all his exercise movements and headed towards his door way smiling when he saw her - the smile fell almost instantly when he remembered they were fighting - him standing up and all might probably bring more awkwardness. Still he tried to be cordial -"Emma... hey." he smiled at her, not so much as meeting her eyes.

Mistaken Angel || Halle and Jonathan || 07/03/2014
Halle quickly jumped back up to shut off the lights, only leaving on Jonathanâs bedside lamp. She silently scolded herself for not thinking to do so as soon as she had entered the room. His eyes were practically swelled shut. She knew adjusting to the bright, fluorescent lights of the hospital were going to take some time. Halle let out a quiet laugh. âWell, Iâm glad you donât mind me being here. I couldnât find a nurse anyway. I sprained my wrist during training today.â She told him. Halle almost cringed at the thought of Jona being tortured and felt silly for complaining about a sprained wrist.  Her problems were minute compared to the mountains of troubles he was currently dealing with.
âDivision has definitely been an adjustment for me, but Iâm learning. Iâm mostly working on getting my endurance up. I couldnât even run a mile when I first got here. Iâm still pretty slow, but at least I can run the full thing without stopping now.â She said smiling. Halle was rather proud of her progress. âYou donât have to stay up and talk to me, you know? You probably need your rest.â Halle felt awful for keeping Jonathan both awake and talking, especially after she witnessed how much trouble he had doing the latter. âIâm glad your okay though.â Halle thought about how odd that statement was. She didnât even know Jona, but yet she was genuinely relieved that he was okay. She felt at ease and comfortable with the man and her hand rested so easily in his. âI really donât want to bother you.â She explained.Â
It was though not to blink, but the dimness of the light helped big time for the agent. He watched the angel -- well in this case, the one with the face of an angel close his lights and silently sit back next to him. He breathed better, knowing there was at least someone. "Sprained wrist?" he blinked again. "There's... there's a hot compress area on the sink beside me..." he said as he tried to angle his head towards the sink. It wasn't much, since he wasn't a doctor or a nurse or anything in the medical area apart from a possibility of knowing first aid, but the hot compress would work. "What time is it? Maybe the nurse will come check on me in a while and you can ask her for help - they might be busy." he continued on saying after all the talking helped him very much. At least before he drained himself of energy again. "A sprain feels really bad, you have to take care of yourself while doing sparring not everyone is nice enough to help you out when starting on it. They'd do their best to kick you down and prove they're stronger."
"Endurance is smart thing to do, I don't have to lesson you..." he drifted away and started to cough a bit but then relaxed. "If I was okay I would go and jog with you to help you run a mile and more." he tried to give a smile, hopefully to Halle's eys it would look like a smile. "No, no don't leave." he said as he tried to find the right words. "I mean, it's okay you're here, unless you have something else to do? Talking with someone makes it easier to forget the pain, or the drugs Division pump into me." he said with a soft smile. "And I just woke up, who knows how long I'd get to sleep here doing nothing."
"Huh, I'm glad i'm okay too." he said again with another smile before sighing. "Well, no- you're not bothering, actually - can I ask one more favor? Can you get me some water? I'm sorry for putting it on a stranger, but... I'm a bit tied up." he chuckled weakly, hating himself for being like this when all he wanted to was to get up again soon. The only saving grace was at least he knew he was weak and trying to get up would be worse.
Mistaken Angel || Halle and Jonathan || 07/03/2014
âIâm no angel. Believe me.â Halle gave an exasperated sigh. âAnd youâre not dead either - just in the hospital wing at Division.â Halle looked around the small room. Everything was white, everything was clean, and everything was cold. Halle could feel the goosebumps rising on her arms. âI just thought you could use a little comfort, honestly. I didnât think you were awake.â She paused. âThat makes it weirder, doesnât it?â A sliver of laughter escaped her lips. âHow you holding up?â She asked. The blonde thought maybe she should just excuse herself and seek the attention she had originally come for, but how could she just leave him alone?
âMind if I pull up a chair?â She asked, but did so before he could answer and quietly slipped her hand back into his. Surely if he didnât want it there he would ask her to move it, right? At least that was Halâs line of thinking. She didnât know much about Jonathan. She actually knew next to nothing besides the fact that he was a Division agent. Even so, she wasnât going to let him sit in the hospital wing in pain all alone. There was comfort in company and Halle nominated herself to be the one to help. A brief thought crossed her mind and again Halle wondered if she were overstepping her boundaries. Here she was, a stranger in the truest sense of the word, offering her hand as though the two had known each other their whole lives.Â
He chuckled for a bit before moving his arm back properly. "You look like one, believe me-" he said, using the same words she had used. "Do you mind.. if you, you know, close the lights? Just here where my eyes would be - sorry it's just really blinding." he said with a small smile, it was the only actions his body would afford to make him move. "Comfort, from an almost-total-stranger?" he asked, his voice still soft. "I'll take it. Any kind of comfort is fine, after a good part of my life was getting tortured and in the future I'm sure I'd get tortured more, comfort goes a long way, so thank you." The agent tried to shift in his position and yet found it hard to do so, with a sigh he just continued to talk. "I sometimes don't know if I'm awake. Sometimes I feel like i'm just dreaming because I can't move, the only time I know I'm really awake is if I am talking to someone animatedly like now." He took the chance to open his eyes a little bit again, now adjusted to the surroundings. Although he still couldn't open them that far as they still swelled.
"It does seem weird yeah, but thanks still - and no, sure-" he started in regards about the chair until of course he could hear the scraping of it's legs on the floor. Plus the fact the hand in his left, it felt as if there was a cold feeling when it was gone, when it came back, he felt it was easier to breathe again. He wondered why, there was a good sense that the hand in his wasn't the hand he was used to, and yet because of so many complications, his fears, his uncertainty - his argument with Emma, his - his battle with himself that now involves things that he never thought he would do - a small comfort, a hand it all made him feel so much better and he owed this girl a good part of his gratitude. It was hard not to feel warm inside.
The agent took a few breaths to get his bearing before starting up a conversation. "How are you holding up in Division? I've stayed here for a good while the whole June, but I guess I just didn't see you that much. Are things going well?" he asked.

Mistaken Angel || Halle and Jonathan || 07/03/2014
When Halle regained consciousness she couldnât see anything except for the bright lights of the gym and a few silhouettes belonging to her fellow recruits. She struggled to remember what had caused her to blackout. Her head throbbed and her forearm ached. She was scared to move it and even less, look at it. The smirk on another recruitâs face revealed the story. Halle had been knocked out. She knew she wasnât ready to spar with anyone yet. She was practically still new to Division. Already so, she was learning to toughen up. A discreet flip of her finger was flicked towards the leering recruit as Halle decided it was time to regain what little dignity she had left and pick herself up off the mat.
That was a bad idea. Halle let out a yelp of pain and grasped her left arm denying the tears that were welling in her eyes their request for freedom. She would not cry in front of those who wished to see her weak. She refused. Â She continued with her training because she had no other choice. One hit on a dummy showed just how inept Halle truly was at that moment. She couldnât even fight an inanimate object. Â It wasnât long until a passing guard noticed as well. He commanded her to medical and she didnât need be told twice. She hurried from the room and headed straight there. From her wrist up was killing her and Halle had sneaking suspicion it was, at the very least, sprained.
âHello? Hello?â She called out when she had arrived. Unfortunately, she didnât see anyone around that could help. The curtains were drawn most everywhere, but Halle thought it best to look for the attending and receive medical attention. She wasnât prepared for what she saw next. Jonathan Mourriland was covered in bruises and bandages. They had only shared one conversation, but Halle hated seeing him in such a condition. The realization of what Division was and what could happen here became all too real for Halle. She had the overwhelming sensation to run, but instead walked towards Jonathanâs hospital bed and gently rested her hand over his. Halle was a firm believer in comforting the wounded and weak. Her mother had always told her it could work miracles.Â
This time, he woke up to no pain, but his head was as foggy as the london arc where Jack the Ripper lived. After possible his numerous lapses and everything after waking up, he was injected with so much just to handle the pain. Still the pain were only skin deep, a bit deeper at some since he could swear the doctor said it was good it didn't puncture his bones or something. He was worried more about Aidan and his back, now that was something else entirely and he was scared for the other guys future.
He wanted to settle back to sleep, but again, he could feel that the world wanted to blind him - then he felt a hand hold his... he almost jolted if he wasn't used to Emma holding his hand like that - but then, the hand didn't feel like Emma's...it was longer or something. He tried top open his eyes and couldn't help but blink at the bright light that was roaring on him - the medical wing really should just close the lights on his part.
As he opened his eyes, his heart almost stopped literally. He wasn't feeling any pain when he woke up. It was unnaturaly calm, it was cold (the only normal thing), and it was damn bright - and there was this blonde beauty looking down at him, a halo of bright golden hair amidst the striking white of medicals lighting. "You look like an angel..." he said a bit unwarily "Fuck I'm not dead am I?" he said, thoroughly shocked. It was a bit out of character for him to think about but with the certain circumstances given, he might as well be. Squinting still, he hoped it was really just the medical light and not afterlife.
And You Didn't Even Tell Me! || Jonathan and Emma
Emma was about done with this girlâs shit. She may be drunk but she obviously couldnât take the hint. She clenched her fist and glared at her. âExcuse you,â she said as she shoved her on the shoulder. If she was taller, she was sure that she would have been able to look more intimidating, but that didnât matter. She assumed that the look in her eyes was enough for go-away-Mae to get the hint. âHeâs not your anything. And you canât own him. So why donât you sip away whatever problems you have and stop being a clingy ho.â She wasnât like normal girls who used words to hurt people, but she didnât want to get Jonathan in trouble so sheâd have to deal with words this time around.
As he dragged her away, she was grateful that she was now far away from the tramp. She didnât want to get any ideas about picking a fight with her right then and there. She got a little scared of his words at first, but then he changed and the next thing she knew she was enveloped in a bear bug. Her arms wrapped around him tightly, glad that he wasnât angry with her. âSorry I followed you. But, Iâm glad that youâre not angry with me.â She buried her head in his shirt, smelling the familiar smell that she had already lost from the sweater that she took from him. With a mischievous smirk, she looked up at him. âSo? Girlfriend huh?âÂ
"Aaand we have to go." he said in a sing song voice as he pulled Emma away from the woman and gave a 'sorry' look to Mae hoping she would in every possible term try to understand. "I'll get back to you." he mouthed to Mae over Emma's head to at least make her not fight back, two customers would probably make his head roll out of the bar without hesitance. As he turned towards the rear area to talk to Emma, he jolted his head towards Ezio, a signal to say "that he'd be back to his customer, so cover for me a while." Sighing when everything was well and done he could only really thank everything he could that he was able to pull Emma away in time. With her skills the pretty woman would be beaten into a pulp or a catfight, whichever was first.
His hug to her was in no way malicious, it was a friendly hug or at least that was what he failed to realize at first because of his oh so need to get away and to have any excuse possible. He grinned and coughed, unsure on what he was going to say before shuffling his hair out of uncertainty. "Yeah, well as long as Division doesn't know yeah?" He said, a mischiveous look in his eyes as he laughed and hugged Emma again using one arm to envelope her shoulder. "Come on, grab a seat somewhere and I'll serve you something." he went back inside the bar area, leaving Emma to sit in front of him. "Just wait for me for like... ten minutes to clear everything with Mae and my boss and we'll see if I can have tomorrow off early so we can go out on a date and have dinner somewhere, who knows I owe you some time for us to get together again-" he laughed again, the normalcy of the situation making him not think about the possible repercussions.
With that he gave another charming smile and served a drink at Emma before pulling on his bowtie and going inside to talk to his boss.

And You Didn't Even Tell Me! || Jonathan and Emma
Emma looked between the two of them, not entirely sure if this was supposed to be his friend out of work or a nuisance. If it was a friend, sheâd stay away. If not, she would take great pleasure in telling her to keep her distance. As he caught her, she tried to push down the little green monster that was threatening to come out. You donât own him Carick. He can catch whoever he wants. Even if it is a blond tramp. âI um⌠yeah, I kinda did. Sorry, but I was bored and you wouldnât tell me where you were going.â She smiled at him, glad that he wasnât mad at her like she thought he might be. As the ho began talking again she turned to glare at her.
"Your bartender? Unless you own the bar, he doesnât belong to you." Who did this bitch think she was? If Jonathan didnât do something, she would put her in her place, most likely with her fists. She smiled a little when Jonathan took a step away from the girl (even her name made her sound like a redneck in her momâs old hometown) and toward her. She smiled at him, glad that he wasnât dating the bimbo but was quickly caught off guard by his words.
"Oh, Iâm notâŚ" She trailed off. Whatâs so wrong in him calling her his girlfriend.. They most definitely werenât so there wasnât any harm in it. Besides, she didnât want to admit that she liked that he called her that. "Iâm not planning on leaving for a while. Itâll be a bit more than five minutes," she said with a little smile toward Mae. Let her spend some time with her boyfriend. That sounded so weird.
Shaking his head, he wondered if Mae wasn't here and Jonathan didn't need a saving grace - that he might actually get a bit put out. This place was his place that was far away from Division, at least that was what he told himself. He wouldn't have to meet just anyone and he could forget the hardships and trouble that Division has inflicted on him. Still, it wouldn't be so bad not to have Emma there, at least, as long as she didn't do anything too bad then or anything that would jeopardize him in his work. Right now it was probably how her fuming face wanted to punch someone, hopefully it was him and not his customer, that would be very bad.
"Yes he is mine!" she called out loudly not enough to stir everyone, but at least within the area The alcohol going to her head made Mae feel a little bit more reckless and courageous. "He's always been my barternder right?" she said, trying to pose something akin to sexy as she crossed her legs and slumped herself towards the bar. Jonathan looked at her, feeling a bit sorry - to think it was still just afternoon and this drama was going on.
Jonathan looked at Emma a bit worried, worried if she didn't go along with his plan. "Yes Mae, I-- I'll always be here to serve you behind the desk. Please excuse me for a moment - just a moment, please." he said as he took Emma's hand and hurried over towards a different part of the bar, far enough for Mae not to even go to. It was probably the best seeing as both girls were ready to wrestle either each other or him.
When they were in the safe area, Jonathan looked down at Emma and sighed. "I should be really pissed you came here..." he started, "but I'm glad you did too." without warning he leaned down to hug Emma tightly. It didn't seem to be too bad to share his solace with his best friend after all.
And You Didn't Even Tell Me! || Jonathan and Emma
Emma was getting sick and tired of this place. She would never dare say that she hated bars, but as she walked around like a lonely loser looking for a boy that may or may not even be in the building, she felt ridiculous. She should keep her curiosity in check and not bother with this anymore. Jonathan was a common name. There could be three Jonathans there and neither of them could be her Jonathan. As she realized this, she let out a groan of frustration and continued to search for his head of brown hair.
"Jonathan!" Emma turned around at the sound of his name, hoping to see him, but unfortunately it was the other Jonathan. Glaring at him, she continued walking around until she gave up and sat at the bar. He wasnât there. All of that effort and he wasnât even there. "Hey can I get a pint of Stella?" she asked the guy behind the counter. As she asked she noticed someone from the corner of her eye. She glanced over there and smiled when she realized it was Jonathan. But her smile fell immediately when she saw some blond ho pinning him against the bar. She didnât know whether she wanted to punch her or run away. The beer appeared in front of her and Emma took it before walking to where Jonathan was.
"Am I interrupting something?" she asked as she looked them both over. If this chick tried something, Emma wouldnât pause to beat the shit out of her.
Jonathan had to laugh weakly as he looked around, not panicking - oh no, it would be any guys dream to have pretty women pin them about. But this wasn't really the best while-at-work decorum that he was supposed to be in. Moving towards the side, he could only smile charmingly as Mae seemed to continue to want to pin him. "Is there something else I can assist with? Is there like a broken glass I wasn't able to pick up?" he asked, knowing that it was a stupid thing to say, especially since he was in quite the thick shoes and glass shards would be the least of his worries.
Mae continued to look at him, and he could feel the breath of the alcohol from the woman about ten times clearer at such a near pace rather than when he was safely behind the bar. "Is there something in my face? I could you know go and wash it out back." he smiled again, this time a little bit wavering in his smile. "No, no--" she answered her hand almost touching his face. "It's just, you remind me of my first--"Â
/Am I interrupting something?/
Maybe it was due to the alcohol or whatever that Mae jolted for a small moment, jolted enough to make her almost fall and that Jonathan had that duty to catch her. "Hey - Emma --" he started "Oh my god, what are you doing here? Did you follow me?" he started to say, but rather than get mad or anything, he was actually laughing as he set the older woman on a chair. This was going to be perfect.
Mae straightened herself up and looked at the girl in front of her. "Yes you were interrupting a private session with me and my bartender here. Right?" she asked him, her glare both wanting to get mad at him and will him to come with her. For a small moment, Jonathan felt bad for what he was going to do, but still...
Placing his hand on Mae's shoulder he smiled. "I'll always have time for you as my customer you know." he said softly. "I'll take care of you when you need to in regarding your problems, and as a bartender is, I'll listen to you..." he stepped away from her as he moved towards Emma, her face seeming to still fume.
"I'll treat you to a scotch when I get back. For now though, forgive me, even for at least five minutes. I'll just have to attend to my girlfriend first." he smiled sadly at Mae and looking down at Emma, hoping she'd go along.Â
