Choosing Low-Emission Engines at a Boat Shop
Lately, Iāve been paying more attention to low-emission outboards whenever I stop by a boat shop or chat with Mercury outboard motor dealers around Australia.
A few years ago, I only cared about whether the engine started first go and got me to the fishing spot without ruining my weekend. Simple priorities.
But after enough sunrise sessions drifting through estuaries with coffee in hand and barely another boat around, I started noticing how much quieter and smoother newer engines feel on the water.
Less smoke. Less noise. Better fuel economy. And honestly? A far calmer experience overall.
Thereās something really peaceful about hearing the water instead of constant engine noise while trolling slowly along mangroves or casting near shallow flats.
I still love boating for the same reasons I always have ā the reset, the adventure, the escape from busy weeks ā but these days I appreciate the quieter side of it a lot more too.
And if I can protect the waterways a little while enjoying them, that feels like a pretty good trade-off.
