Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services Here you can review and change which apps are allowed to access your location, and when. (Never / Ask Next Time Or When I Share / While Using the App / While Using the App or Widgets / Always) Every app will give their reason for why they might need your location — use your own discretion. You can also toggle Precise Location.
Go back to Privacy & Security > Tracking Turn OFF “Allow Apps to Request to Track” to automatically deny any app’s requests to track you across other apps/sites.
Go back to Privacy & Security > Health You can review all the apps that can write or read data from the Health app. Every toggle can be turned on or off to your comfort. This is especially important for those who menstruate!
Go back to Privacy & Security > Research Sensor & Usage Data This should be disabled by default, but make sure it is unless you want important information being shared with apps and in studies.
Go back to Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements Turn OFF all of these toggles.
Go back to Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising Turn OFF Personalized Ads.
Go to Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security Make sure “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” is toggled ON. “Privacy Preserving Ad Measurement”, when toggled ON, will share ad analytics with websites (such as if it was clicked on or not), but that information will not be connected to you, and it is sent out randomly. If you’d rather have nothing be sent at all, toggle this setting OFF.
Staying in Safari’s Privacy & Security, go to Advanced > Website Data Here you can see which websites are keeping data (such as login info or cookies) and how much space it’s taking up on your phone. You can delete individual websites by sliding them to the left to reveal the “delete” button, or by pressing the “Edit” button and tapping the red minus signs next to each website. You can also press “Remove All Website Data” to get rid of everything. Keep in mind, you will have to log back in to many sites, and websites that keep data based on device (such as Wordle) will be reset.
Go to Privacy & Security > Safety Check Here you can review who in your contacts has access to certain data, such as location sharing or photos. Tapping “Quick Exit” on any of these pages will immediately take you to your Home Screen. If you start an Emergency Reset or Manage Sharing & Access, you will have to put in your phone password at the beginning of the process, and any time you leave the Settings app.
“Emergency Reset” will lead you through the (autosaving!) process of revoking access to your information from all people and apps, changing your Apple ID password, and adding/removing emergency contacts.
“Manage Sharing & Access” allows you to review what you’re sharing with people/apps, and who you’re sharing it with. You can also review your account security and Apple ID password, and see which devices are signed into your Apple ID (and you can delete them!)
