She’s felt like she’s been in freefall ever since she first stepped on the stage. 

Heels clacking on the hardwood, her dress swishing against her knees as she twirled. Billie’s always loved the stage, always loved the thrill of being a different person for two hours, singing and dancing as if nothing else mattered. Smiles and takes the hand of whatever leading man she’s working with now, and for two blissful hours, the world rushes past her. 

Spotlights on her and make-up thick and it feels so right. Her life’s never a standstill anymore, always moving from one point to the other and she loves it. 

It rushes past her as she shakes hands with Eddie Cantor for the first time, and it rushes past her as she meets Nucky Thompson, it rushes by as she is told her face is just perfect for the newest picture. Always in freefall, the world moving around her almost too fast to catch up.

But Billie’s a stubborn girl, and she knows what she wants. She doesn’t fall for anyone she doesn’t want to, and when she turns back and finds Nucky staring at her, she smiles.

Always stuck in a freefall, but she wouldn’t want it any other way.

She is in a semi committed relationship with a ballerina, but when that woman is touring–most of the year–she is also sort of having fun with a younger trombone player.

Her closest friend is a lesbian burlesque stripper named Madeline True who writes her very long letters from NYC
