I just read an article that said Ares was the most pathetic greek god.
Let me get that straight.
Ares was the only male greek god that never raped or sexually assaulted any woman in his immortal life.
Ares was the patron god of the Amazons. A feminist community of female warriors was protected by him. Amazons were his loyal daughters.
Ares slew his daughter's rapist and was tried before all of the other gods for homicide.
Ares was the only male greek god that never viewed Aphrodite as a temporary lover, he respected her and loved her for who she was.
Zeus called Ares a double-faced liar just because he didn't agree with his nature and allowed Athena to hurt him.
Ares forgave Cadmos for slewing his child and married him off to hid daughter Harmonia.
Ares freed Thanatos from the chains Sisyphus put him.
Ares was the first god to protect Olympus from Otus and Ephialtes, but when he was trapped by them no other god went to free him.
According to Nonus in Dionysiaca, Ares allows Deimos and Phobos to help Zeus defeat Typhon.
Ares was the god of masculinity, civil order and a fighter for righteousness, referred as the Ally of Themis.
He always stepped in to help his children. He even went as far to disobey Zeus so that he could save his children from danger.
And Ares is pathetic! Like really?
The only argument of his "pathetic" nature was because he lost to Athena. A war isn't meant to always be won. There are the winners and the defeated. He may have been defeated in war but in his life he was a winner, because he faught for what he loved the most with insane ferocity!
Be for fucking real guys!

Happy #NationalBookLoversDay
Happy #NationalBookLoversDay to all our literary fans out there! Here at the Archives, Weâre very shelf-aware of our love of all written records! To celebrate this wonderful day, hereâs a look at some of our favorite literary holdings!
As all lovers of fiction know, a good book can transport you to other lands. And speaking of literary travels, hereâs #ErnestHemingwayâs 1923 passport photo.
Nothing warms our hearts more than seeing young people having fun in libraries! Hereâs a 1940âs photo of children checking out books from the Benjamin Franklin Library.
Sometimes all you need is a great book and a little space. No one knows this quite like Astronaut Janice Voss! Here she is enjoying âA Man on the Moonâ while exercising on an ergometer on the middeck of Endeavour, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 105.
It wouldnât be a proper #NationBookLoversDay celebration without highlighting some of our favorite American authors. Hereâs a photo of #JamesBaldwin and #MarlonBrando at the Civil Rights March on Washington.
To all the Edgar Allan Poe fans, this oneâs for you! Hereâs a look at Poeâs enlistment documents.
Poe joined the Army at the age of 18 in Boston. This enlistment paper shows that he used a false name, Edgar Perry, and a false age, adding four years to his real age. The paper also described him as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, with brown hair, gray eyes, and a fair complexion.
Happy #NationalBookLoversDay, Booklr!

A Few Tips All Writers Should Remember:
¡Write to your comfort level. Meaning: give yourself a break when you need it and push yourself when youâre feeling motivated.
¡Seek out sources of motivation. There are very few times when motivation hits me out of nowhere. Read a good book. Watch a good movie. Write down your goals.
¡Find your space. Coffee shop. Library. Your room with the music blasting and the TV playing your favorite show. Find whatever gets you in the right headspace.
¡Your first draft is just the first draft. Too many writers stress out about the first draft and they forget itâs just the first step in completing your novel. You can add to it, build from it, or toss it away completely.
¡You will be rejected. Even if you write the next big hit, youâll be rejected. Read the reviews for some of your favorite booksâI guarantee someone HATED it. Not everyone will like your work, but that doesnât mean itâs bad.
¡Write advice isnât for everyone. Thereâs no one-size-fits-all plan for writers. Pick and choose advice that works for you, ignore what doesnât. Not everything will relate directly to you and your style of writing.
¡Itâs okay to stay in. Want a night to yourself so you can write? Donât be afraid to cancel your plans and focus on your writing hobby. You donât have to feel guilty about wanting to work on your writing.
¡Let ideas settle. Itâs tempting to jump right in to a new writing idea, but let things settle for a bit. Brainstorm. See what comes next. An idea needs to have legs and it needs to take your story somewhere. Let it grow.
¡Outlines arenât set in stone. Be flexible with your outlines. Plan if you need to, but allow yourself to explore new ideas. Let your story go in an unexpected direction.

Throwing A Twist On Famous Writing Tropes
Hi everyone! Here are some ways to throw a few twists on popular cliches that are so beloved, they are practically unavoidable at times, whether thatâs a good or bad thing.
Love Triangle
In terms of YA fiction, it is easier to name novels that have love triangles than ones without one. Here are some ways to change that up a bit.
Donât have your character choose between them.
It is typically a girl and 2 boys. Change up the gender norm in this trope.
Let your character pick the wrong one.
Let one of them actually not be in love, but your character is in love with them while the other person actually does love your character.
If your character picks neither, have the 2 rejects become friends or maybe even date each other.
Characters With No Experience Are Better Than Experts
I understand if your fantasy character is suppose to probably have hidden powers they did not know about, but even if they are destined to be the greatest, it is unlikely that they can handle someone who has been doing what they can do for years.
Have your character lose several times.
Give the expert a reason as to why they might lose against the character with no experience.
Let your characters actually have experience before going into said situation.
Point out the motivations your character has that the expert does not.
Donât make your character the greatest. Just because they can do it doesnât mean they have to be the best. Or if they do, make is based on something more than just talent.
Hatred Becomes Romance
Sometimes, this is annoying. Sometimes, itâs adorable. If applying the word âhatredâ loosely, and more so annoyance, Harry Potterâs Ron and Hermione make a great example, or even Peeta and Katniss from The Hunger Games.
Donât have them actually hate each other. That can be a bit unrealistic.
Keep the bickering lighthearted.
Donât make the hatred result in racist, sexist, or homophobic acts, or anything unforgivable. Not only is it unrealistic, but it is disrespectful.
Give reason as to why they hate each other, and not just because you want them to hate each other just so they can end up together later.
Let them go back and forth between âhatredâ and romance.
The Ugly Beauty Queen & Good Looking Characters
For the cliche characters that donât see their own beauty but everyone else does...
Make your character aware of their beauty. Itâs not conceited to know you look good.
Donât let your character be attractive. Average people exist.
Donât let appearance be the sole reason we should like your character, especially the handsome badass guy.
Give your character physical strengths that are considered âunattractiveâ but itâs seen as beautiful.
Donât make someone suddenly interested in your character once they go through a âbig revealâ unless you intentionally want to show them as a jerk.
REREADING THE HUNGER GAMES - some thoughtsâ˘
okay so i reread the hunger games for the first time in like⌠8 years or something and boyyyyyy it was a ride:
* this book came out in like 2008, but goddamn itâs still relevant as fuck * i absolutely adore the fact that it wasnât a traditional ârise against the governmentâ story, where the girl was The One and she did All The Things - Katniss was thrown into all this shit somehow under the radar, with adults still running the rebellion, but choosing her as a symbol and honestly sheâs like âi have no idea what the fuck to do, but iâll listen to Haymitch and Cinna - adults who know more stuff than I do, and hopefully not get killedâ * i also liked the fact that her and Peetaâs traditional roles were reversed: she was the hunter, he was the baker (who was doing the FROSTING on cakes int he bakery, like, i stan) and this was Suzanne Collins saying fuck you to expectations about what roles men and women are supposed to fulfil * this book is disguised as another YA bullshit, but my dudes, holy fuck no - even if you take out the whole âweâll send your kids to murder each other in an arena for our entertainmentâ - it deals with a shit ton of issues: PTSD, abandonment, alcoholism, children way too young being forced to take the roles of providers in their respective families, how entertainment affects the way we see the world, how media manipulates perception - like, this shit is Deepâ˘
* it annoys me that at one point, this book/series was reduced to Team Gale vs Team Peeta, when⌠it was honestly about SO much more. And tbh, the progression of the love triangle was natural - when you share a life and death situation with someone, itâs completely natural to have at least some conflicting feelings towards that person, so Katnissâ indecision over Peeta and Gale is completely fucking normal for an adult, let alone a teenager just discovering themselves and exploring their heart
* the writing is Really Good, even compared to newer books that Iâve personally read and adored - itâs intense, fast paced, I flew through this in a couple of days and even knowing the story, it was still gripping and adrenaline-fuelled
* Peeta is completely underrated as a strategist - like, that kid is Smart⢠as fuck
* Katniss and Rueâs relationship was such a punch in the gut, because it really solidifies the idea that these are kids, paying the price for something they had no hand in, paying the price for a past they had no choice in and no control over, and Iâm unashamed to say that I, a woman in her 30s, still cried ugly tears when Katniss sang her song for RueÂ
* honestly, my dudes, just⌠pick up this book and read it, because itâs so, so much more than what the movies reduced it to (I love the movies, but⌠yeah) - this shit is a dystopian masterpiece and Suzanne Collins is a queen, we stan

Nancy not understanding what it's like to be someone who needs money and cannot afford to be fired while jonathan simultaneously fails to understand what its like for a woman in the workplace is the most perfect representation of privilege that I've ever seen. Without us knowing it privilege shapes the way we see the world, the way we act, the things that matter to us. And NO ONE is free of it. Everyone has it worse in some ways and better in others. Jonathan needed that job and could not understand how nancy could just toss aside paying work like that over your bosses being douchey. Nancy wanted to be treated as an equal and she couldn't understand how a little money could be worth putting up with that kind of behavior. They totally missed each others points because of the different ways they were privileged
