Story of a Young Bride

Heyya guys It’s Katie-Maree again,

So last blog was about how my now fiancé and I met.. And so today I thought I’d change up what I was going to talk about.. I hope that’s okay?

I thought I’d discuss other peoples views on young marriages.. (Under 25)

So I’ve learnt since our engagement that not many people mind about age.. But for me some people do judge when it comes to people getting married young… My dad is not supportive of us at all.. (Then again he never is) but still this was the icing on the cake.. Even my grandparents, who’s generation is known for getting married young have an issue.. But the main reoccurring theme and point I keep saying is.. Once you know the other person is right for you.. You’d be silly to give it up just because you’re “too young”

I promised last blog I’d tell you the story of how my now fiancé and I met.. So here it is..

He and I met on Bebo 6-7 years ago.. And we hit it off straight away.. Taking everyday until we fell asleep. He is from Nz and I am an Aussie so there was an ocean between us unfortunately.

Anyways, I liked him but thought that maybe he didn’t like me. And so we both dated other people for two years until one day we were both single and I just couldn’t keep it to myself anymore and so I told him that I really liked him… And to my surprise the feelings were mutual, I was stoked!

The question was.. What do we do now? So another year passed and we still talked everyday and in that time he had planned to come and visit me.. But 4 months before hand I received a message from him.. And he asked me out! I was ecstatic.. I remember that I was eating dinner with my family and when he asked me I stood up and danced around the room… (Lame right?!)

So he and I dated over distance for four months and getting more and more excited about him coming over the “ditch” and finally meeting this wonderful guy… However.. I was also nervous as anything and as my mum, sister and I waited at the airport I was actually feeling sick… I couldn’t eat or drink anything…

The plane arrived and people were starting to depart customs and I kept thinking “holy crap.. He’s an older man.. Maybe he is a woman.” Soo many things were going through my head until…. I saw him, the guy I had been talking to for ages.. He was walking towards me and I had no clue what to do. We were finally standing infront of each other and the first thing we did was gave each other a hug.. My mum and sister however thought it was cute and they applauded us.

We got into the car and drove away on a journey of getting to know each other more than the internet can allow.. But being face to face with him.. Was a dream come true.

So that my friends is how my now fiancé and I met..

Allow me to introduce myself, please? if you would.. 

I'm Katie-Maree, I am the 'Young Bride' I spoke of on my page. 

So if you haven't guessed already, I am getting married!! 

-yeah? so? you may be thinking... 

I am quite young, I'm 19 and I know that doesn't seem like such a big deal. but according to many it is. 

"It's going to stop you living life as a single woman" or "You haven't even experienced life yet" many people may be thinking...

But I've come to the conclusion that.. who cares?! 

Now don't get me wrong I'm freaking out, like to the point of anxiety and stress to the MAX! But what I've learnt is... 

If it's supposed to happen it will. 

My fiance is the nicest, most caring man I have ever met (plus my mum loves him which as some of you know that's a bonus) 

What i need to know is... if there are any of you out there who is getting married who is around the same age group as me... how has society reacted to your own news? 

Not that it really matters what they think.. I just thought it may be a good idea to know you're not alone..
