The Moment (2026)
Adain Zamiri's The Moment is such a nuanced exploration of authenticity under the pressures of relevancy and perfection in the public eye through Charli xcx's infamous 'brat summer' The concept of 'brat summer forever' in itself is ridiculous, it creates an unbearable and idealistic expectation of relevancy, and The Moment effectively highlights how this pressure to immortalise their image can force artists to compromise their authenticity when trying to appeal to a mass audience. While in Ibiza, originally to escape the hectic industry she finds herself lost in, Charli is confronted with her struggle to maintain relevancy ultimately surrendering her creative freedom to the demands of commercial control. This moment also highlights Charli's personal insecurity relating to fame, and the staggering pressure to immortalise the brat image. After Celeste (her creative director), Charli finds herself shamelessly suspended in a harness performing "I might say something stupid", ironic due to the songs expression of insecurity relating to fame and authenticity, Charli realises the absurdity of conforming to expectations of commercial success and the sacrifices artists make at the expense of genuine expression. This scene really was a turning point in the film, having Charli realise the ridiculous nature of her performance during such an emotional song was such a perfect way to do so - I also just love "I might say something stupid" so!!! Additionally, the film's mockumentary style helps to satirise industry figures and creative decisions, having Alexander Skarsgard's character treat clearly commercial and artificial choices and deeply artistically profound highlights the absurd gap between authenticity and marketing. Ultimately!!! I think that this movie just so perfectly solidifies Charli as a truely authentic artist by criticising and challenging the commodification of artistic expression and through some crazy deserved taylor swift shade. I actually loved this so much, all the performances were outstanding and the writing was just incredible! I truely don't think this would work for any other artist, the confrontation of the absurd nature of commercialism is just so refreshing to see in a world where everything really just is performative - which really just further solidifies Charli's genuine authenticity when it comes to the music industry I actually have so much to fucking say about this but i am so fucking lost for words i need to rewatch and get my shit properly together - sorry if this was stupid rambling <3

listening to teen idle at 13 every school morning was fundamental to my development
she's so perfect it feels offensive to be near her

marty supreme !
To preface, I absolutely adored this movie! After watching yesterday, this film works perfectly: narratively, cinematically, aesthetically, and thematically!!! From the outstanding performances from the whole cast to its entrancing soundtrack, this is such a genuinely good movie
the problem with a movie like marty supreme, where its story is centred around a flawed male, lies not in the fault of the film itself but instead in how its perceived by viewers. Josh Safdie, director and writer of 2025s Marty Supreme, does not intend for Marty Mauser to be a character you aspire to be, the films purpose is not to present poor traits such as narcissism, selfishness and manipulative behaviours as desirable. Safdie highlights the disgusting nature of these flaws when shown in such extreme, and used purely for self gain.
After self-inflicted struggle, Marty succeeds in defeating his opponent in table tennis, purely for his own ego and to prove his self worth. When impressionable audiences - that being in this instance younger men - see a flawed character succeed like this, said flaws are interpreted as necessary for success and the negative effect of them are often ignored. The film lacks closure in Marty's relationships with anyone but himself, again underscoring how Marty's priorities were consistently self-revolved and how his behaviour negatively impacted others "never even enter[ed] his conscience".
Timothee Chalamet's Marty Mauser is a self-obsessed, egotistical shell of a man, who is written to be that way!! Not with the intent to inspire others to act in such ways, but to inspire audiences to be aspirational and ambitious.

as much as I absolutely adore sofia coppolas adaptation of the virgin suicides, having lux go last just feels so wrong? I know it was more or less to finish the movie off quicker but theres still like 10 minutes left after they've all died? So why not stay accurate to the book? And for the most part the film does that pretty well.
constantly i hear that "lux was the last to go" audio on tik tok and aghhh!!! no she wasn't!!! justice for mary omg! All the other sisters are so overlooked, i know lux's character definitely is explored more in both the book and movie but the fandom acts as if bonnie, therese and mary just dont exist?!
