Here is it. I've been waiting tables and complaining about not using my brain all year. But auditioning, and networking, making connections and doing work in my industry that I'm proud of. Not much money there. Not yet. Now I have an opportunity for a job that uses my brain, and a mentor that sees potential in me... In the corporate world. It's passion versus finance. Do I give up a year of doing what I love to pay the bills? Is that time that I have? Will I get sucked too far in and end up missing out on a break in the industry I want to be in, while working in an industry that I'm good at and pays me well, but doesn't fulfill me? I wish I could flash forward five years in both directions, but that's a technology we don't have yet, I guess.

In any case I remember feeling that impulse, and feeling really cry-ey, and hanging up the phone. Then she moved for a year and when she came back we weren't friends anymore.
