It Feels Good Being Bad

“Summertime: Part 1 and 2″ Maya can’t stand the thought of losing her bestfriend Tristan to the snobby Zoe, so she goes against her parents curfew to make sure that doesn’t happen. When consequences take affect and her parents band Maya from a summer trip to Paris, she hangs with the troubled Miles to prove a point, only to realize her home life is much more fortunate than his. “All I Wanna Do" Clare’s cancer diagnosis sets in when her hair starts to fall out. She decides to shave it off to keep in control, but is she losing hope? “My Own Worst Enemy" After an MRI, Clare is convinced her cancer is spreading. “About A Girl" Adam fears Becky is being taken away from him by a fellow lifegaurd, and becomes obsessed with keeping tabs on her through his phone. “Cannonball" When Adam realizes Becky might be done with him, he hooks up with Imogen to try to get over her but it only makes him realize he really loves Becky. In urgency to apologize to her, he heads out on the road to find cell service. "Honey" Alli tries to make the most of the time she has left with Leo before heading home, but he isn't making it easy. "Forever Young" Becky tries to understand the meaning behind an unexpected tragedy that she cant comprehend.

HIDE AND SEEK > IN THE COLD, COLD NIGHT

Oh, and Aislinn Paul, you're pretty much the best actress. EVER.

But no. Now we have this jumbled mess where random characters are getting the opening and closing scenes rather than the A plot. WTF.

Why I like her: Her storylines are kickass → Favorite Line: “Everyone is happy but me.” → OTP: Eclare → BrOTP: Clare/Alli → Head Canon: She Skypes with Darcy every night → Unpopular Opinion: I've always loved her, never thought she was annoying. → A Wish: She loses her virginity and doesn't regret it. → 5 Words: Alone, Rejected, Caring, Writer, Pretty

Come As You Are - Drew / Katie / Bianca - A Notes: It's a love triangle... but it's a perfect love triangle. Walking On Broken Glass (1) - Katie - A- Notes: Relationship drama but this plot is strengthened when it's hinted that Katie's struggles are far more serious. Walking On Broken Glass (2) - Drew - B- Notes: A mushy ending kills the intense feel of this plot. Got Your Money - Zig - B+ Notes: Should've focused more on how Zig deals with being poor rather than his wanting to impress Tori. Say It Aint So - Alli - A Notes: Throwing in a pregnancy scare for more drama was over the top... this plot wouldve done just fine on its own with Alli dealing with the decision to go to MIT, however the picture is still clear: Alli has to make huge decisions regarding her future. Closer To Free - Jenna - B+ Notes: Jenna getting baptized for a boy is borderline ridiculous, but when we realize the real reasons the plot is nearly perfect. Waterfalls - Clare - A+ Notes: Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Aislinn Paul delivers what could be the best performance from start to finish in years. Rusty Cage - Cam - A+ Notes: Nearly Perfect. Wish there was a bit more cutting. Never Ever - Imogen - A+ Notes: Perfect. Sabotage (1) - Clare - B+ Notes: This episode is a perfect example at the mistake Degrassi has been making the past few years: putting random music into dramatic scenes that dilutes the seriousness of it all. Sabotage (2) - Eli/Clare - A+ Notes: Aislinn Paul has secured herself as one of the best actors on Degrassi... ever. Scream (1) - Eli - B- Notes: Eli's stress over the play is enjoyable and relatable, but is diluted with character overload when Clare's story takes over the show. Scream (2) - Clare - A+ Notes: A moral dilemma that surges with intrigue. The perfect end to a very enjoyable story arc. Building A Mystery - Becky - B+ Notes: Becky's internal struggle makes this episode worth watching, and the ending  is an emotionally brilliant moment. Doll Parts - Maya - B Notes: Too much focus on relationship drama dilutes this plot that is supposed to be about insecurities. I Want It That Way - Alli - B+ Notes: Alli's struggle with fast tracking is relatable and well acted by Melinda Shankar, but is too predictable. Tonight, Tonight - Adam - A- Notes: This episode may be relationship focused, but the undertones of Adam's constant struggle to be a man is what makes this plot shine. Lovefool - Drew - A // Katie - A- Notes: A brilliant play by the writers to use a wedding as a facade to display a much greater issue: Drew's necessity for his mother's approval. Meanwhile, Katie shines in a plot full of desperation. 

DEGRASSI SEASON 12 FREEZE FRAMES (RUSTY CAGE - NEVER EVER)

Boom Boom Pow - Bianca / Drew - A+ Notes: Perfect. Love Game - Clare - B+ Notes: Jake was needed in this plot, but hurt it as well. What's My Age Again - Anya - C+ Notes: Not getting into college and smiling is a no no. This plot should've focused half on being rejected by Dr. Chris and half on being rejected by university. The ending was on point and perfection. Idioteque - Drew / Bianca - A+ Notes: Perfect. Cry Me A River - Dave / Adam - A+ Notes: Perfect. Dirt Off Your Shoulder - Eli - B+ Notes: Eli's problematic focus should've been more on not being able to write a play BECAUSE of his pills, rather than because he can't get over Clare. Paper Planes - Anya - B+ Notes: Random scenes that make Anya seem too stupid for university were pointless. Should've ended with Anya leaving the house against her mom's will... not on her grinding on some dude in a club in a 10 second scene with no words. Should've Said No - Clare / Jake - B- Notes: Clare being scared to get hurt is enjoyable to see, but Aislinn's acting in this plot makes it seem contrived. The ending was predictable and comical... and not in a good way. U Don't Know - Holly J. - A+ Notes: Perfect. Lose Yourself - Jenna - A+ Notes: Perfect Mr. Brightside - Drew - B Notes: Dragging Drew's PTSD issues being us an enjoyable plot that is unnecessary and boring most of the way through. Extraordinary Machine - Eli - B Notes: Doesn't really "go there". Although the focus is on Eli, this plot is too relationship heavy for a bipolar storyline. Drop It Like It's Hot - Alli / Dave - A Notes: Usually having a couple go through an issue (gambling in this episode) hurts the plot, but here it helps. Don't Panic - Katie - B+ Notes: An interesting take on bullemia: it never really goes away. Wish we got to see Katie puke to add realism. Seeing her home life and her parent's perspective on the issue would've made this plot perfect. Take A Bow - Fiona - A Notes: Nearly perfect... wish we got to SEE Fiona struggle with loneliness more rather than just hear about it. Dead and Gone - Drew / Bianca - A- Notes: Editing Bianca's abuse/slavery plot into this storyline would've made for a killer episode. Instead we just get a glimpse at the after effects: a bruise on her arm. Bleeding Love - Clare / Jake / Alli - C Notes: An episode that tries to be about incest, then tries to be about a love triangle, then tries to be a horror story... and is a train wreck from start to finish. Underneath It All - FIona / Imogen - A- Notes: Feels too 'pretty' if that makes any sense. Can't Tell Me Nothing - Katie - A Notes: If Katie would've just apologized, none of this would've happened. Not Ready To Make Nice - Clare - A Notes: Nearly perfect. The few scenes focused on Clare being jealous over Jake/Jenna should've instead been more focused on her failing to fit in with her new family at home. Need You Now - Eli / Imogen - B- Notes: A relationship episode that is good because it uses bipolar disorder as the barrier. Should've focused less on Eli/Imogen and more on how Eli's mental state is affecting his family and friends. Smash Into You - Dave / Alli - A+ Notes: Perfect. Hollaback Girl - Bianca / Katie - B+ Notes: Should've focused solely on Bianca. Katie's issue is good, but dilutes Bianca's. Too much focus on a live triangle in an episode that really isn't about relationships. In the Cold, Cold Night - Fiona - A- Notes: Part 1 is brilliant. Part 2 almost becomes about a relationship, but is saved when it makes sense.

What A Girl Wants - Fiona - A+ Notes: Perfect. Breakaway (1) - Fiona - B- Notes: Too little time given to this plot. Fiona randomly thinking Degrassi will bring her happiness and jumping on a plane was too out of character. Breakaway (2) - Holly J. - B- Notes: Wrapped up too neatly in an unrealistic ending, however enjoyed Holly J.'s desperation. 99 Problems - Riley - A Notes: Choosing to focus more on Riley/Drew rivalry rather than feuding over Riley's sexuality would've boosted this episode. Better Off Alone - K.C. - A- Note: Too little time given to this plot in Part 1. I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself - Sav - A Note: Wrapped up too neatly in the end. Shoud've ended with the scene where Sav's parents tell him they are disappointed and he says he will earn their trust again. Try Honesty - Holly J. - B- Note: Almost borderlines ridiculous and cliche in Part 1, but picks up in Part 2 and the overall struggle for Holly J. to become more independent is enjoyable. You Don't Know My Name (1) - Alli - B Note: Too little time given to this plot. However, for a relationship storyline this plot was shockingly relatable and good. You Don't Know My Name (2) - Drew - C Note: Snoozefest. My Body Is A Cage - Adam - A+ Note: Perfect. Tears Dry On Their Own - Jenna - A Note: Jenna's musical dreams playing second fiddle here hurt the plots dynamic. Still Fighting It - Riley - A Note: Tiring viewers with more stories about Riley struggling with his sexuality becomes worth it in the end when he finally comes out. Purple Pills - Fiona - A- Note: Part 1 seems all over the places with where they want the story to go. Part 2 quickly picks up the pace. All Falls Down (1) - Drew - B+ Note: Drew doesn't have any reasons for cheating... but do cheaters really ever reasoning? All Falls Down (2) - Alli - B+ Note: Brilliant plot that is ruined when the last few minutes takes the story in a completely different turn. Don't Let Me Get Me - Alli - B+ Note: Part 1 focuses too much on relationship problems when it should've focused more on Alli feeling like an outcast. Love Lockdown - Holly J. / Declan - A- Note: Emotional plot and performances... my only wish is that they focused more on Holly J.'s conflicting emotions over whether or not she was raped. Umbrella (1) - Clare - C+ Note: Clare's divorce storyline becomes a train wreck when they decide to focus on how the issue affects her love life. Umbrella (2) - Eli - B- Note: Some great moments that are overall ruined with a focus on relationship drama and a mushy ending. Halo - Jenna - C- Note: Snoozefest. When Love Takes Over - Adam / Fiona - A- Note: My only wish for this nearly perfect plot was that Adam would've walked in on Fiona passed out on the ground... rather than on her couch. The Way We Get By - Drew / Bianca - C+ Note: Boring relationship drama that becomes better in Part 2 and even better when it changes from a relationship plot to a plot about shrooms. Jesus, Etc. - Clare / Eli / Fitz - A+ Note: Perfect. Hide and Seek - Holly J. - B Notes: Part 1 told us nothing. Chasing Pavements (1) - Fiona - A- Note: A fantastic plot that is marred when the ending looks too far ahead to setting up the next episode rather than closing this one. Chasing Pavements (2) - Fiona - A+ Note: Perfect. Drop the World - Eli / Clare - A+ Notes: Perfect.
