One voice is enough to break the silence.

I was in my thoughts today.

There's this type of silence that forms around subjects people would rather not engage directly.

Offering silence instead a solution is intentional.  That practice is maintained by people with the most capacity to act in our current era. My work  -  the photography, the assemblage, the message built through determination  -  is  my voice, breaking that stagnating silence. Rescuing relics from spaces that never understood what they held, protecting them and building the container: that is homecoming at the scale one person can execute.

This practice is called reparative assemblage. A term that may circulate in curatorial writing and institutional contexts  -  the same institutions that have not resolved objects still held in storage and on display under disputed provenance.

I work in the space left by Afrofuturism becoming a licensed aesthetic and intersectional feminism becoming a campus brand -  in a period where more than half of a specific female demographic voted against legal protections for their own communities to preserve an ideology at direct odds with collective survival. Frameworks originating in the diaspora are adopted, narrowed, and redirected until they no longer serve the people who built them.

My work fills that vacant space. Supporters who appreciate my work are funding a practice that will protect our stories of truth for a time to come.
