It had a former life as a rotating glass microwave plate, but after being covered in a paper gun target, copper paper washed with black acrylic, cut paper numerals, clock hands and rotary dial, Hornsby's bottlecaps, gears and assorted findings, it found an entirely new existence in 1878.

Another example of my older assemblage art. This one was meant to be a riddle in images where each compartment represented a letter and the entire box spelled out a nine letter word.

This is a new experiment I'm trying. I used to do assemblage art boxes years ago, you can see a few on my main instagram if you scroll back a ways.

I miss making them, and I have been enjoying others artists on here who do much the same kind of work. They inspired me honestly, to try this.

I cannot do assemblage the way I did previously because it requires more space than I have available and the ability to procure items, whether found or bought...I don't have that available to me either.

Since I already have experience doing digital collage, this is not a huge step for me to attempt a digital assemblage. I really love using old vintage stuff, objects that seem to have a story. At first I was going to stick to using things like I would have found before for my boxes, but then I decided to kick it up a notch and include items that would be honestly too precious to adhere into a cigar box- small relics from various eras in history.

I love museums so much, and I haven't been able to visit any of those either, so I decided to allow myself the best of both worlds and make meaningful art about the things I love.

I know there are some who don't like AI, and I understand that. But when I choose to use it, I'm not just typing in prompts. I'm using it to create elements to manipulate myself. I don't find it any different then selecting items for a box. I still choose them, their meaning, and arrangement. AI in this sense is allowing me to have part of myself back again.
