I wish I might live fifty years longer; I believe I should see the thrones of Europe selling at auction for old iron. I believe I should really see the end of what is surely the grotesquest of all the swindles ever invented by man--monarchy.

Meet Henry Rollins.
Rollins, frontman for both Black Flag and Rollins Band, has been traveling the world for more than a quarter century. In recent years, he has decided to document his travels, which have taken him to countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, and North Korea to name a few. His first photo book, Occupants, has just been published last fall.
Rollins wrote some captions for each pictures but since it’s not possible to do in a photoset, I’ll post them below.
#1 “She and her parents were picking through a massive pile of garbage in the Karail slum in Dhaka (Bangladesh). The parents didn’t seem to notice me, but she did and smiled as I took the photo.”
#2 “I was in the Karail slum (Dhaka, Bangladesh) and saw this group of men cutting the needles off syringes. I asked them if they were being very careful, the potential for spread of disease being very real. The man on the right spoke English and told me they were being careful. He then proceeded to take a syringe and pretend to stab his friend with it. I don’t know what they were going to do with all the syringes. If you look carefully, the needles are all over the ground.”
Wow, didn't know he was here. Listened to a lot of Black Flag in high school. Saw him bee-lining through Union Square in New York last November.

Prepubescent and adolescent girls sold by their families to brothels (legal brothels, by the way) for $245 so that they can abuse unregulated livestock-fattening steroids to attract customers and charge $0.60 per session, up to 15 times a day, to forever pay off their madams and pimps.
Bangladesh better hope and pray that God does not indeed exist, because if sin exists there can be no greater one than this.
I wonder how many Bangladeshis watched the Kony 2012 video and how many of them knew this was happening in their own back yard?
Where is their viral video to be viewed more than a 100 million times?
Tangail/Bangladesh, Mar 19 (bdnews24.com/Reuters) - Their faces painted heavy with make-up, teenage girls in short, tight blouses and long petticoats loiter in squalid alleys, laughing and gesturing to potential clients who roam Tangail town's infamous red light area in the early evening. There is no shortage of men looking for "company" in Kandapara slum, a labyrinth of tiny lanes - lined cheek-by-jowl with corrugated iron shacks - a few hours drive northeast of Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka. But with rates as low as 50 taka (60 US cents), the need to attract as many customers as possible is desperate - prompting a rising, yet dangerous, trend of steroid abuse among adolescent sex workers to "enhance" their appearance. "There is a huge difference between my appearance now and the malnourished look of my childhood," says Hashi, 17, who was lured into the sex trade by a trafficker when she was 10 and sold to Kandapara's brothel, where she began taking steroids. "I am healthier than before and fit to serve a lot of customers in a day. Sometimes up to 15," she says, placing a large black bindi, or dot used by Hindu women, between her perfectly shaped eyebrows. She sits in her tiny room with a bed, a cooking stove and posters of Bollywood stars taped across the wall. Hashi is one of around 900 sex workers - some as young as 12 - living a painful life of exploitation in Kandapara, not only bonded by debt and fear of stigma, but compelled to take the steroid, Oradexon, which brings more income but leaves dangerous side effects.
The government has waived half the interest on the margin loan of the retail stock market investors in a much-awaited move to recompense them for their losses in the slide. A 20 percent quota will be reserved for them in the next IPOs this year and 2013, finance minister AMA Muhith told reporters after meeting capital market stakeholders on Sunday.
Only in Bangladesh can small, unsophisticated, barely literate "investors" blunder about ignorantly in the stock market investing non-risk capital and then turn around and demand re-compensation from the government for their losses, and then have the government actually turn around and comply by waiving interest on margin loans and providing special quotas for future IPOs.
It's like Capitalism and Communism having cheap sweaty fornication right in front of your eyes.
The American Pet Products Association (APPA) says spending on pets in the US passed $50bn (£31.5bn) in 2011.
Even in troubling economic times, Americans spent a record amount on their pets in 2011, over $50 billion.
When compared against the figures on the official website of the United States government on government spending (www.usaspending.gov), it appears that Americans spent 0.33% of their GDP on caring for their pets.
Which is about:
180% of what is spent on the Dept of Energy
83% of what is spent on the Dept of Education
370% of what is spent on the US Agency for International Development
406% of what is spent on the Dept of State
304% of what is spent on NASA
12% of what is spent on the Dept of Health & Human Services
Incidentally, $50 billion is about 17% of Bangladesh's estimated GDP in 2011.

GHETTO BENGALI 101
Like I have said before, I’ve been trying to teach myself to read through advertisements. There are 3 motherfricking types of R’s in this advertisement in ‘Rahmania Travel Services.’ (note inc is excluded in the bengali)
R1 makes sense it is a letter by itself, R2 ok your adding that shit to the T with the underline thingee, whatever, but there’s another fricking type of R in this bish?! that lil tiny spanish TILDAY? motherfucker on the top of the V, i was so frustrated trying to find the R in services, and when i found out i tossed this shit..what a fucking gay thing to do, who the fuck came up with this ?!
and in the word services, the S sound is phonetically? found thrice, hence the letter used three times. honestly you remember one letter and you start picking up another in context, untill you get the whole alphabet.
NOTE: Ofcourse you can do it the official way and like get a textbook or some shit and learn it way fricking faster, WAY FASTER, but where is the fun in that…
now i know my abc’s wont you come and sing with me…..
Good Governance
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is perhaps the most infinitely aware, insightful and omniscient of all government regulatory bodies I have ever dealt with in any country. They were able to complete my motor vehicle examination and renew my car's road fitness certificate without the pesky time-consuming bother of actually seeing or having my car present (it was literally several miles away). They must be hiring psychics.
We should commend them for their efficiency and prompt service, they are a model to the world for good governance.
For one to be free there must be at least two. Freedom signifies a social relation, an asymmetry of social conditions: essentially it implies social difference--it presumes and implies the presence of social division. Some can be free only in so far as there is a form of dependence they can aspire to escape.

In recent weeks, mobile phone users have been complaining that they were noticing missed calls on their handsets from certain seemingly overseas numbers on a regular basis. Many said they were getting alluring text messages too. The unsuspecting recipients fall victim to fraudulence when they return the calls. They either face high charges or are asked to pay some money to win a reward or tempted into getting involved in telephone sex.
I and several of my friends/colleagues have received these messages.
The one I got read:
hi baby i miss u so much call me on this number i'm waiting for u
Of course, I did not reply.
Some victims said when they returned a call, they were presented with sexually provocative conversations in Bangla from the other side.
Although, "sexually provocative conversations in Bangla" might have been worth the money to hear. I'm curious, I can't for the life of me imagine what sexually provocative Bangla would sound like, having never ever heard any in my entire life.
UPDATE: To clarify: I've heard plenty of sexually explicit Bangla, mind you. I've just never heard any that rose to the level of sexual provocation.
