This was disturbingly realistic about the usamerican healthcare system, something everyone in usamerica will eventually have to deal with. Yet nobody seemed bothered. Instead, everyone was arguing over who was the most morally pure blorbo and who’s the bad guy.

Why is nobody talking about the rise in anti-Asian hate and the assaults that have come with it?

When are we going to have a real conversation about Indigenous communities, the IHS, and how the healthcare system has failed them?

Why aren’t we talking more about the collective trauma of COVID and the reality that Long COVID is still affecting millions of people?

Why isn’t there more discussion about Street Teams and the critical work they do? And why has the ED become the last safety net for so many people, only for them to still slip through the cracks?

Why does nobody talk about the lack of formal mental health support for healthcare workers?

Why is there so little discussion about the financial strain on interns, or the low pay that many nurses and junior doctors receive for the work they do?

The show practically spells out that the ED is chronically under resourced, especially when it comes to staffing. Yet somehow, parts of the fandom reduce all of those systemic failures to, “It’s all because of that one evil man.”

For crying out loud.
