me: all our teeth fall out as children and then they all grow back stronger
alien: okay, i mean…that definitely sounds fake, but….okay.
My life in the dental world this week:
1. This week I filled in at an office. I was waiting for a check from the DDS and I decided to rinse my mouth (I don’t know why, I was restless). What do you know, he comes in while it’s in my mouth and I didn’t know what to do SO I SWALLOWED IT. I felt HORRIBLE after but I am fine now.
2. I was flirting with a guy and I told him he better start flossing now if he ever wanted to kiss me and then he stopped talking to me.
Why. Am. I. Like. This.

Don't brush your teeth during a cold so that you don't have to change your toothbrush
or like at least a pretty long time
I like this because I don’t understand it but it’s still beautiful

I am now a Registered Dental Hygienist!
And I worked for the first time this week! I had two clients who were very nice. I fell behind right away and I need practice with billing and I have a few other questions but I am the fill in hygienist for a wonderful office :)
How Cow!!! Crest Pro Health makes my tissues slough SO MUCH!!
I love the taste but the reaction is HORRIBLE
Greatest News of My Dental Career and the Moment I've Been Waiting For For Four Years:
I passed my National Board exam.
So I wrote my national board exam.
I wrote it yesterday morning. It was 200 questions, on the computer, and I feel confident and that scares me. I don't get my results for a couple weeks but I just felt as if I knew the questions and what they were trying to ask me. I was the first one done but I was sure of my answers and I thought I understood the content. Please send good vibes my way because I got a job and they want me to start in the beginning of July.

What I would like
If people stopped asking me if I have job prospects. I just finished four years of school and haven’t even written my board exam yet, and even at that, I can’t work until July. Leave ME ALONE!!!
Has anyone ACTUALLY seen marijuana staining?
I am asking because its in my study notes, and I’ve heard of it being discussed on online Facebook forums or dental groups. Each time that I am shown a picture of the stain, or searched it online, it seems as if the stain looks just like tobacco staining, or it looks like the client is a tobacco smoker. What I am saying is that I believe that a lot of people who smoke marijuana also smoke tobacco, therefore how can we determine that the stain is uniquely from the drugs. Also I am concluding to this, because of medical histories I have seen associated with the client, and I have had three clients that I can think of off of the top of my head, who are HEAVY marijuana users, but never touched a cigarette in their life, with no indication of such marijuana staining. I am also in scrutiny because I cannot find any supporting legitimate articles or research, therefore if anyone has relevant and evidence based information, please pass ir forward to me. Merci :)
I haven’t shared any pictures of myself, but this is my graduation picture, here I am! :D

Good Afternoon to all my fellow dentblrs, toothblrs, scalrs, and past-me when I started this blog I recommend reading this
This woman here is now DONE dental hygiene school. Emotions associated:
-Disbelief
-Exhaustion
-Excitement
-Pure Joy
-Fear
It feels very surreal. And I have been waiting for this for so, so long. It was something that I felt would never come and I could not picture who I would be when the moment arrived. Congratulations to all those who are also finishing, and to those who are chugging through it currently, keep going, you might lose your spirit along the way but if I can do it, so can you! I struggled with moderate depression through my four years (the program is actually 3, but I also did one year of dental assisting before starting hygiene). I made it through by honestly focusing more time on myself and my mental health, rather than school. Mind you, eventually I was able to input more time into studying and projects, which worked best for me. I always tried to get a good sleep, (not always possible), but the most important part of my life was balance and trying to keep myself happy. How could I work or be productive if I was miserable, and depressed to the point where nothing was nothing fulfilling me as much as staying in bed for 8 hours a day (which I have done, and still occasionally do #depression). On another note, I have had amazing clients, I failed tests, I cried, I hated myself, I felt on top of the world, and through all this I didn’t realize the growth and changing that dental hygiene has given me. I am so so proud of myself, possibly more than anyone else could be of me.
I still have my National Board Exam to take, on May 23, and if anyone has tips for writing or preparing, please let me know. I am studying with the program StudentRDH, which is amazing, and slightly costly. The only downfall for me is that it is American based, where some guidelines and regulations vary, and we have a different numbering system. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about it. If ANYONE has any questions for me, I am all ears, and will give the most personal advice I can offer! Good luck to everyone in their careers and studies, I will continue to blog along my journey. Thanks for following me on this path. I appreciate you all, and the kind words of motivation & advice :)
