People saying that Severus envied Sirius, tell me you don’t understand a damn thing about either character without telling me you don’t understand a damn thing about either character. Why is it always the so-called Sirius Black fans who understand his fucking character the least and come up with the dumbest, most nonsensical takes about him, and who hypersimplify him to the extreme? I mean, you’ve got a guy who was trying to be one of the good ones and only ever managed to be a fucking hypocritical rich kid with a wannabe attitude, who acted all liberal but had no idea what deconstructing himself even meant, who had good intentions but completely failed in the execution, and who still loved his people deeply while never managing to let go of his untreated ultra-elitist complex —and who fought for what was right while at the same time being a violent, prejudiced asshole— and you want to present him simply as a rebel without a cause who was super cool because he left home at 16 and hated his ultra family. You can really tell most of these people aren’t even 20 yet, because you’ve got to be simple-minded to have opinions, visions, and readings this simplistic.
Btw, I’m getting off topic, but how exactly is Severus supposed to have envied Sirius when, by the time Sirius gets out of Azkaban, the guy is a broken poor bastard who’s only useful to Dumbledore as a headquarters provider and is completely sidelined from any kind of Order activity, while Severus is literally not only Dumbledore’s right-hand man but the most valuable member of the fucking Order of the Phoenix because he’s a fucking undercover double agent constantly dealing with the most complex and grim aspects of the conflict? I mean, Severus is the main character at that point and Sirius is a broken toy. Please, a little perspective, it’s really not that much to ask.
