I do not! I totally understand the feeling. I get freaked out going alone i mostly go with my bff maggie but I think you will be be okay and have fun!!! Usually nobody bothers you and nobody cares about looking out of place like I am so clearly autistic and femme in a room of like. Bald men. But they are all here to drink and watch sports so 🤷 we all in this together. If you feel unsafe sit near some of the wrestlers families or the ring crew they don't take that shit. Local indie wrestling has legit reignited my spark of the sport as a whole i hope you have the time of you life nonnie

hi nonny its me the maggie in the post! ive been going to shows solo for like a few years now AND i dress weird and look gay. I've never had a bad experience! my biggest tip is just to not be afraid to get loud, it really makes the experience special. even if you arent going to be talking to anyone, take note of the people who seem like regulars in the crowd, because if you make a habit of coming to shows theyre probably going to be some of the first people who you end up talking to, and are the most likely to be decent people who love the sport.

in my experience also, looking out of place can be a plus! itll make you more memorable which will lead to more people noticing your presence (again, even if youre not chatty), which really does build the feeling of community that makes indies so special imo. ++ wrestlers are a lot of weirdos and nerds in funny outfits with bad haircuts, so you really wont be too odd even if the crowd is mostly tshirts and cargo shorts.

and!!! ultimately, most promoters, wrestlers, and regulars do not care what you look or act like!! they WANT people at shows, especially folks who might be out of what you would consider the target demographic. as long as youre respectful they want you here!!! its what keeps the scene alive!!! youre helping and they love you for it.

indies is really a unique experience and for me has been something thats really positively impacted my confidence about being my weird self #myweird. make the most of it but most of all just have fun!!!
