“Yeah, you’d think by now I’d have started to plan for it.”

“I don’t think we’ve met before but I have seen you around. I’m Isabella, Isabella Abrams.”

Jodie smiled. “A lot is going on in my life. I have a boyfriend now,” She admitted.

“You do?! That’s so exciting!” Isabella grinned at the news. “Who are you dating and when can I meet him?”

Jodie smiled. “Sure you can!” She exclaimed. She sat down on the stool next to Isabella. “I’ll have a Moscow Mule please,” She said to the bartender. 

Isabella felt a lot more relaxed now and smiled to her friend. “So, how have you been? It’s been a while since we last talked.”

“No problem,” Jodie said with a smile. “Wouldn’t want to leave anyone in that position. Men can be creepy.”

“So creepy,” Isabella responded before looking at her drink and then back to Jodie. “How about I buy you a drink for saving me?”

Damn, all a man wants is to go kayaking on his day off and it has to rain. 

“Yeah...it rains a lot, especially during this time of year.”

“That’s amazing really. That’s one fo the best jobs to have especially the feeling you get after helping that person.”

“Not all clients are easy to work with and some of them go back to their bad habits, but I try to stay positive and believe that my work is...well...working.”

“I like the idea of helping people, making them feel better really.” She explained. “What about you? What made you want to become a social worker?”

“I’ve just always loved the idea of helping someone go from nothing to having something...that something being a family, a home, a person to love and support. The list could go on.”

Jodie was sitting at the bar when she saw Isabella getting hit on. She hadn’t noticed that her friend was at the bar until she heard her voice, and she turned around to see. She got off of her stool and walked over. “Hey,” She said slowly, “I think you should take your hands off of her.”

Isabella was close to punching this man square in the face until she saw Jodie approaching and she watched as the drunk man stumble to hit on some other woman. “Thanks for coming over because I was really thinking about punching that man in the face,” Isabella said with a little chuckle.

“Whatever you’re drinking is fine, I’m not picky,” She laughed. 

“A lot of people are so I like to ask just in case,” Isabella said before ordering her what she was having.

“That was usually just my way of getting girls in to sexting, but I was a little asshole so..”

“Sexting, huh? Now that is something I haven’t done in a long time,” Isabella admitted with a laugh.

“I haven’t played that game in a long time.” He laughed. 

“It can either go great, awkward or bad...mainly depending on the questions,” Isabella said with a laugh.

Ben wasn’t normally one to get into people’s businesses, but when he saw a man putting his hands on a woman who clearly didn’t want to be touched he reacted by stepping between them. “She said not to touch her, man. Back the fuck off.” He said and the guy backed down after a moment. “You good?” He asked Isabella.

Isabella was so close to punching this man in the face but she was surprised when another stepped between them and made the drunk back down. Taking a deep breath, she regained her composure and smiled. “Yeah, thank you for doing that. I really appreciate it.”

Elle often frequented the bar on nights like today–not exactly for the ambience the place provided, but for the friendly faces. Well, mostly friendly faces. Upon hearing the woman’s icy tone, the blonde had to turn to take a look. The brunette clearly had the scene under control, but Elle was not adverse to providing a little aid in an unorthodox fashion. So, she stood up and walked toward the two, accidentally spilling her drink over the front of the man’s shirt. “Oops, so sorry!” She replied airly, giving the man an icy look. “Did I ruin your shirt? What a shame.” She waved as the man grumbled away, clearly pissed by her “clumsiness”. “You good?” Elle asked when the man had left. 

Isabella was about to punch this man in the face when she saw a blonde in the corner of her eye appear and watched as her drink spilled on the drunk man. She couldn’t help but bite down on her lower lip, holding back laughter and smirked watching him walk away. “Yeah, I am. Thank you for doing that but I’m sorry about your drink,” she said looking at her. “How about I buy you another for your act of kindness? Well, that wasn’t kind but it was so fucking awesome.”

“Thanks,” Ethan said, grabbing the beer that was now sitting on the counter, holding it up to Isabella. “It’s nice to meet you, too. But yeah, I’ve lived here my whole life,” He said, “But I don’t think you can really call it a city…”

Isabella raised a brow in interest. “A local, huh? What’s your favorite part about this place?” She asked wondering before chuckling a bit. “If it says this place is a city on Wikipedia, then I’m believing it,” she teased before taking a sip of her drink.

“Sure,” Kennedy smiled, sliding into the bar stool next to her. “I’m Kennedy, by the way.” 

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kennedy. My name is Isabella,” she said with a smile. “What would you like to drink?”

“I’m a nurse, just worked a long shift so i needed a drink.” she smiled, sippin her own drink. “What about you?”

“Fair enough. You nurses work so hard,” Isabella said with a nod. “What made you want to become a nurse?” She asked wondering. “I am a social worker.”
