Gotta catch 'em all!

"Fine, fine.  I’ll just stop by quickly to pick up my books and read all alone in my cold, dark room."  His voice got overly dramatic as he said that, each word coming out with a silent laughter attached.  He was just trying to be a little shit and knew he wouldn’t do anything to fuck with Isaac’s work.  It would be just as bad as if Isaac had come swimming every day at the pool and distracted him from life guarding.  He’d be okay with it to an extent, but he knew his work would suffer from it.  "No more alcohol poisoning for you.  Nope.  I refuse, though getting drunk is fun.  Moderation, Nemo.  You can’t drink like the fish you are."

He let out a laugh that was probably louder than he intended, shaking his head as he looked up at the sky.  ”I would be a fine ass teacher, but still.  It feels like I’m following in all my brother’s footsteps, yanno?  I want to be different.  I don’t want to follow a trend.”  He said that with a distant tone to his voice, mostly because he didn’t even know what he would do other than teach.  Sure he could swim, and he loved the water, but there were just some things he could and couldn’t do with it.  He disliked science courses, so a degree in marine biology or oceanography was out of the question, but everything that was water was scientific.  ”I think you’d be pretty damn good at anything you try, honestly.  You’ve got that kind of personality where as long as you go into something you like, you’ll do it well.”  

"You're a shithead," Isaac laughed. "You know you can stay in the library but you have to wear your most unappealing clothing, so I don't get distracted from your body. Wear a potato sack, maybe?" He opened one eye and peered at Trevor. "Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm doing a lot better… Some serious shit was going on in my life when I got alcohol poisoning." Isaac thought about back a few months ago when he was constantly getting abused by his step-dad. He could remember each bruise, each argument he had with Stephen over the fact he wouldn't tell him everything, he could remember everyone's concern and how terrible he had treated his friends because he refused to own up to who was hurting him. The memories made Isaac's chest and throat tighten and he quickly tried to shake the thoughts away. He didn't need to cry in front of Trevor. 

"So don't teach then. You're good at plenty of other things." Isaac said with a shrug. "You'll figure something out, Trev. I know you will. Don't settle for teaching if it's not what you want to do." Isaac was in the same boat as Trevor, he wasn't sure what to do with his life either. "Yeah, thanks." He gave a small smile. Isaac figured he would be stuck working some shit job for the rest of his life, but didn't bother telling Trevor that. Not after he just told the younger boy not to settle.
