I prefer having proofs when someone tells me so." Not that he would have called the police for real, of course. At least not before knowing what she wanted from him. "So if I may ask, then - why are you here at all? I am not a thief, an assassin or anything. And everything I do is completely legal." he said with his best innocent voice. "Why would someone like you be interested in someone like me?"

"A surprise." Irvine repeated, considering catiously that word. "So to quote someone better than me, something wicked..." it could have been anything, knowing her and her methods, but since he was rather sure despite the secretness (maybe she feared that he might have been double playing. As if he was an idiot) he wasn't worried about himself. And assuring his safety was the only thing that mattered to him - he didn't need to pretend that it wasn't that way. "So I'll just have to wait and follow it all as everyone else in London? Well, isn't that exciting." he answered in the end with a shrug of his shoulders: "At least tell me when and what will you make some parts of the city esplode, would you? I would hate to see what you have in store."

For as much as he can appreciate an inscrutable man for once it is also true that it put Irvine at great disadvantage in his line of work. The guy had guessed correctly that there was something different about him - which didn't necessarily mean that he would have disappointed him, of course: Irvine knows enough tricks and has learnt how it was always much better to know how to do almost everything to avoid disappointments or unwanted surprised, but how would the man take the idea of giving up control and let anything in Irvine's hands? The more time they spend together and the man speaks, the less he seems like the kind of person who would have taken pleasure in that. He would have had to be careful, unless the man would have been so kind to tell him beforehand what he wants from him or asks him directly, he considers as he makes a small bow of his head as exaggerated thank you as he exits the car and then wait for him to show him the way inside his house, looking around positively impressed. "Well, the more room the better, for sure - but I agree that there is no need to rush at all, that is true. I am not particularly in a hurry to come back home any time soon." Irvine says mentally cheering for his luck. There is always the chance that he might make a mistake and follow back home someone just to discover that he lives in a small flophouse good only for people who definitely cannot afford his services, but this time there was the chance that he might have found someone much better than the man he left behind, for at least two reasons. After all, he wasn't picky about his clients but the look had its importance all the same, he considered taking another look at the man as he waited for him while he closed the door. He might not have been so strikingly beautiful to make everyone turn when he walked in a room, but he still was handsome all the same: enough that all considered, the night wouldn't be wasted even in the remote case the man would have refused to pay him (which Irvine couldn't see why, as clearly he didn't have any problem spending his money), he finds himself thinking. "I definitely made the right choice." he considers in the end with his eyes still fixed on him, though he doesn't explain the reasons why out loud. He hopes the man will suppose is the one Irvine wants him to think, although he's not sure it will work so easily that way.

  "Yes, my father." Alex knew that not everyone was aware that the consulting criminal had a son, and he could understand the surprise once they found out. Jim wasn’t really the father type, after all. "Now now, don’t you worry your pretty little head over this. Jim is just very interested in working with you, and supposedly has some big plan that he needs you to help him with. But you can’t do that if you decide to skip town, can you? So he sent me, one of his best, to babysit you until he can come talk to you. It’s not a big deal, though. No need to get your panties in a twist." The news had clearly worried the man, and with good reason. His father was capable of terrible things. No doubt Adler wanted to live, and saw Alex being there as a threat to the long and happy life he craved. “Now, how about we head somewhere for a drink? I’m parched.”

"Dear, I would be much more of an idiot if I wasn't at least a little suspicious when I get to be babysit by someone, wouldn't I?" he asked with a shrug of his shoulders, not worried at all of what this Moriarty Jr might have thought. Irvine wasn't stupid, and not being alarmed when someone like his daddy changed his plans all of a sudden either didn't know who he was dealing with or was rather stupid, that was all. "If people weren't scared of him, he wouldn't be doing his job right at all. And besides, I don't like sudden twists of events at all." All the same, well aware that neither protesting nor fighting would have led anywhere nice to him he hummed, as he thought about the man's words. "Well, if you want to get to my place you won't feel thirsty for long- if for your dear daddy it's quite the same." he answered: "I promise I will be good, trust me." last thing he wanted was to upset his dear father, no matter what his son was going to tell Irvine at all. He wasn't absolutely worried about what might have happened back to his place. "What do you think?"

Alex relaxed back into the seat, gazing out the window as the man did as he’d suggested and pulled away from the curb. “He got me straight out of the womb, actually. Name’s Alex Moriarty. The pleasure’s yours.” He hated doing jobs like this, and wished that his father would assign the babysitting jobs to one of his other lackeys. He had better things to do with his time. “My father still wants to meet with you, so instead of telling me what his master plan was so I could inform you and be done with it, he sent me here to watch you. Make sure you didn’t get any funny ideas about running.”

"Your father?" Irvine couldn't help but repeat, finding the words incredibly hilarious. So Jim Moriarty had a son and the news amazed him so much that at first he didn't even realize what the boy was saying, until the boy mentioned the reason why he was there in his father's place, making Irvine open his eyes wide and turn towards him at the first chance he had to look away from the traffic. "Watch me?" he asked frowning, his hand instantly holding the wheel a little tighter: "How and why should you watch me? There is no reason at all why you should watch me at all, is there? We're here to make business." or so he hoped, at least. He knew that Moriarty was more than changeable as character, but if he had specifically asked this son of his to make sure that he wouldn't have run... that was definitely worrying.

  "It’s not awkward at all, Mr. Adler." Alex climbed into the passenger seat of the man’s car, buckling himself in before turning to face the other man. "I’d suggest you drive so we don’t look suspicious. Your place will do just fine."

The fact that he knew his name made Irvine feel at the same time less suspicious and rather worried - he wasn't the sniper Moriarty always brought around, and that was good. But it also wasn't him, and he had been told they had to talk about something Irvine should have done for him- and this was also definitely not him. But as he guessed that any person that wasn't Moriarty couldn't be anything but less dangerous, he started to drive as the guy had told him, raising an eyebrow as he looked at the boy.  "Does he start to look for associates in high school now?" he asked after a brief look. He couldn't be much older than 24, or around that age: "I'm starting to feel old."

"I am not so sure about the wonderful tale." he grunted as he moved away from the door, scratching the back of his head as he let her in. His life could have been a wonderful tale, if only all that shit in his past hadn't happened and brought him there to London: "And don't worry, I wasn't sleeping yet, just slightly sleepy." he reassured her. He did notice that something had changed when he had mentioned her being innocent, but as she didn't say anything about it for as weird as it seemed to him he decided to keep quiet and don't ask anything further about her reaction. If she wanted to talk to him, she would have he guessed. He merely added: "Not on purpose or to enjoy yourself, that is for sure." as he closed the door behind her, and gestured her the way to the living room. "Make yourself at home. I'll make some coffee. Heavily spiked." he said muttering the last two words more to himself rather than directly to Enola. Whatever direction the night could have taken, surely it was going to be a long one, and he preferred to keep himself as awake as possible as long as he could. He considered whether he wanted to speak to her about such things or not. It wasn't shame - well, not entirely that: more than anything, he didn't want to disgust her. But he guessed that he couldn't keep on with lying much longer, especially since he didn't have any intention to lie to her any further, so he just sighed. "Well- when I was a boy, I was pretty much a spoiled brat." he said with a smile, remembering that time: "My father had made tons and tons of money with an airline company, and we had all the money one could desire. It was me, him and my mother, because- she didn't have any family, and my father's family kind of hated him for marry my mother. She didn't have money or a career, nothing at all." he took the cup and brought her to Enola, showing her his bottle of vodka. "Feel like spicing it up?"

Mischa laughed and shook her head. “I don’t think I’m that lost, unless I managed to wander off to another country without noticing.” Which she wouldn’t have been surprised of if she had at this point. “I’m not sure… Which way is Millbank supposed to be?”

"Just checking, you know." Irvine answered returning her smile just as playfully as she had laughed, and scratched the back of his head: "Well, Millbank...you have a long way to go to get there, miss - if you are late for an appointment I'd suggest you to warn that you are going to be a little late." he warned her, with a shake of his hand: "But I can help you get there, if you'd like me to. I promise I am not dangerous, as you can see."
