Devlog #1: Fixes, UI Overhaul, and New Sinners on the Horizon

Seeing so many of you enjoy the weird little world we built has been surreal. Your comments and bug reports have been incredibly helpful â every bit of feedback helps us make the next update even better. We are also very happy and grateful for the donations. Thank you very much for supporting us, especially since this is our first RenâPy game!â¤ď¸đ
I took a day off, only to dive right back into development the next day â determined to squash those bugs as quickly as possible. One thing led to another, and, well⌠Iâm still deep in the throes of game development. Weâve only been using RenâPy for about 2â3 weeks, so this has been a huge learning experience! Help⌠me⌠Iâm still in the box⌠đŚ
Currently, weâre still unsure when weâll be able to release patch 1.0 but my goal is at the very least November to December.
After Version 1.0 we would like to release a new batch of sinners for the complete experience.
Weâve seen reports about players getting stuck in loops or being unable to finish certain routes â and weâre on it! There are a lot of bugs related to story progression that we are aware of and Iâm currently working on redoing all of them due to the nature of our game. Additionally, weâre fixing more behind the scenes:
A bug where Shepherd got into a coma for a thousand years before perishing as a result of their power abuse. đ
We noticed a weird quirk with RenâPyâs blur effect â sometimes setting it to Blur 0 doesnât actually clear the blur completely. To fix that, weâre adding extra checks so the blur will properly reset to 0 every time.
đMysterious Bugs and FeaturesâŚ
There are some bug reports we received that we canât seem to replicate no matter what. Here are some of them to let those who encounter the same issue know weâre on it!
Our daughter, Rais Wyne, would sometimes gain superpowers and jump off screen. The power of love is truly a mystery.
When music is playing, some of the voices would become quieter. Iâm not sure if this is a RenâPy feature weâre not aware of.
Here are some of the new content weâre planning to release with the patch.
Release Hajime Nakajimaâs route.
Release Gunnar Shiraiâs route.
Release a mysterious route.
Keep endings now have surprises with them.
More interludes for more Shepherd content.
Extras will contain Ending List per sinner, Gallery and Music Player.
If October-cham and EJ-cham are free weâd like to have new tracks and sounds!
The UI was not finished by release and it had been my primary focus from the moment I resumed development. We'll have more information later once the patch is released but some of them are:
There are framerate drops when interacting with UI parts on some PCs. I converted some of the .webms to frame by frame PNGs hoping to alleviate this issue.
Keyword Display takes too long to proceed and now requires player input to exit. It also has a new animation when it disappears.
Skip and Auto texts in Quick Menu now have a display and color change to indicate theyâre active.
Finished and fixed all the Codex screen bugs and features.
Finished and fixed the Title screenâs navigation menu. It no longer glitches out, has new options and text descriptions. For those with the same issue, removing size_group "navigation" fixed it for us.
Finished the missing features from the Options menu such as the sliders.
đ Workflow ImprovementsâŚ
This isnât directly related to the game release, but Iâve built a few utilities to make development smoother. Positioning dialogue used to take a lot of time â but after learning more about RenâPy, I finally created something to make that process much easier!
đ¤ About Voice ActingâŚ
Weâre unsure when our voice acting director and voice actors would be free but we hope to have a fully voice acted game.
