Ya know what blows my mind how fucking gryffindorish the slytherins are portrayed. Saying 'I'm gonna overthrow ya' or something along those line is just so fucking gryffindor. As if I'd ever tell you that I want to take your place. I'll actually convince you that I don't want it and that you don't want it, but I'm such a good friend that I'll take this stinky big salary high power job from you, brr awful. Draco Malfoy was the most gryffindor dude in the whole of slytherin. Speaking out publicly against the-boy-who-lived, truly gryffindor *buuurn I know*. It's way easier to get what you want if people think good of you, or at least don't think you're a psychopath. I'm not saying slytherins are faking it. They truly do care, they're real people with real human emotions after all. And if you make it into their close friends circle, they'd pretty much do anything for you. Also I do believe the real hardcore slytherins aren't even in the slytherin house. That would be such a strategic disadvantage. Why would you want to be in the house that everyone is super suspicious of and that is believed to always have some sinister ulterior motive. If a slytherin and a gryffindor do the same stupid thing a slytherin would be punished to discourage anything scary and 'slytherin' happening in the future, a gryffindor would be punished (maybe) but with a shrug of 'oh well they were just being gryffindor' nothing suspicious happening there. The true slytherins just managed to talk the sorting hat into putting them in hufflpuff, the most underestimated house. This way you have the upper hand cause no one expects the optimistic nice hufflpuff to have far reaching schemes. Also sorry not sorry jk rowling but the whole pure-blood supremacy thing sounds more like something an idealistic gryffindor will fall victim to, 'for the greater good' you know. Slytherins wouldn't try to save the world, cause they have an objective perspective on their capabilities and resources. That doesn't mean they're complete pessimists though. Rather people who live life by their own set of values, enjoy it, and respect those who want the same. If they're capable of helping this person most likely they will. And they won't do it for the round of applause or something like that, if their aim is just to help this person then they'll do it.
