has anyone else experienced the friendly personality + aroace = “innocent bean” stereotype being pushed onto you equation? I’ve started to notice it more and it sucks because a lot of these people are my friends who I genuinely care about but I feel like they see me completely differently than to how I actually am 😭 people telling me that I wouldn’t understand the conversation they’re having because it’s about how hot their celebrity crushes are, or making “an asexual, btw” comments when I make dirty jokes is not a pride win I fear. You are just putting a stereotype on me
#There are aces who don’t want to hear about these things and they are extremely valid aswell#but I have never hinted at that. I’ve said multiple times that I don’t mind and even enjoy talk about romance#It can feel really isolating sometimes. Especially with close friends.#The extent of my sexuality is that if you put someone in front of me.
