As I type this pitiful attempt at a blog post i have been based at the station for 7 days and wow, it is fantastic! the enviroment ensures that you feel at home straight from the get-go and i have met fantastic people and i hope to volounteer here in the not so distant future!

Monday 15th June 2015, to be perfectly honest a rather scared and frankly nervous Harrison boards Alex’s fresh family ‘Whip’ and made my way to CSV where my weeks work would commence. as soon as i disembarked the car i was introduced to the wonderful Benjamin Driver, and not so long after the gaffer himself, Edwin Barnes.They are both awesome dudes and i was also introduced to dozens of cool guys and gals from IO and CSV!

My week would involve shifting a radio station to a new (and fresher) setting to start an exciting new patnership with the awsome dudes at Punch Studios, pretty rad stuff, the move itself was exciting and it was amazing to see the components of the heart of a radio station, The studio!

Monday 22nd June 2015, I skip into the radio station after being granted an extension to my 5-day period i was originaly given, just avoiding a long winded week at a travel agents! Also two other guys joined the work experience roster Olly and Ross, they are awesome dudes and i would love a collab with them on a show (please Ed and Ben) but on that day i did my first ever hour long broadcast and it was amazing (apart from the very shaky start) i soon got into a good rhythm and im itching to go in again!

In conclusion all i can say is for those intrested in media and radio production a week at IO Radio is perfect and you should deffinatley consider it! if your reading this and are intrested here is how to get in touch with us.

Ipswich Town Football Club

I was a season ticket holder but it got too much for me to pay. I have met Mick McCarthy once at one of the local pubs in Ipswich opposite the train station  and I asked him for his autograph He did give me his autograph and he wrote it on a piece of paper but I accidentally threw it away.

I did enjoy the home games when they won some games last season but they did not get into the premiership  for next season

The games are sometimes on TV or sky sports  so people can go to the pubs to watch the game on bigger screens . The best bits of the game is when the players come out from the tunnel because the home fans welcome the players on the pitch and see there favorite player close up.

I hope Ipswich town football club will get into the playoffs next season.

So, we (Ross and Olly) are doing our work experience at IO Radio from Ipswich Academy, but what  have we done so far? Being only 1 day in we can’t say a lot, but what we can say is only good! Everyone we’ve met have been more than friendly especially Ben and Ed. We learnt how to do basic mic checks as well as setting up for a live radio show, we’ve also been shown how to do some basic editing for the pre-recorded shows. We were also guests on Joe’s show ‘What trends’ on a Monday morning and had our own show with Ed later on that day. Marc Newby also came in to perform an absolutely astonishing live performance on “FreakScene” with Matt Catling, this marked the first live performance within the new studio. I (Olly) am hoping to go into media in college and hope to volunteer in the future at IO Radio. Ross is hoping to learn new techniques within music production, music tech and generally learning about the music industry.
