hi guys i went to compute how much money thomas sanders could get from fans. take it w a grain of salt bc im p sure he actually earns more than what i say lol (mostly bc idk how much his merch breakdown would be)
on ig he has 302 subscribers, which is around $4 per person.
on patreon, he has 870 paid members, and let's give him the benefit of the doubt that the average is $10 per member, since there's an array of tiers. many could pay for the low ones ($2-5) but i know theres a substantial amount of people in the writer's room ($25) so this is my safest bet.
870 paying average $10 per person is $8700 per months, which again could be higher
and the merch is hard to calculate, bc theres a lot of merch drops, but smth to understand is that a lot of his merch drops were designed by brei and yet brei does not get the money for them anymore, since thomas has full commercial rights.
each top he has in his shop is $30-50, and tops cost $10-20 to make. he currently has 42 designs available, but just keep in mind that if he sold one of each every month, he averages around $630 per month.
i mention these and not his other gigs, not even youtube salary, because this money is provided by fans in the promise that sasi will be finished. the patreon especially, because the patreon is designed w a sasi theme, w sasi-related content.
anyway, average total per month is $10.5k.
even if thomas went thru a bad mental health crisis in 2023, even if he gave us the most recent episode, 3 yrs of that salary would be $378,000 that supposedly went into sanders sides production. not even the latest episode amounts to 10% of that!
not even the patreon receives a concrete calendar for actual episodes of sasi. and i think it's dubious that you have to pay for a writer's room, or even thomas relies on fan submissions for sasi episodes like the incorrect quotes, bc hes essentially profiting off of not just free labor, labor that fans Pay to do. and yet he goes on vacation pretty frequently, like going to nyc and watching shows, without any dollop of concrete update on sasi as a series
