In most fanfics Kenta is being portrayed as a very *sorry I’m taking up space* kinda character (nothing wrong with that, its a very different dynamic to explore, but its just not my cup of tea).

But I absolutely love how in the show he is unapologetically himself with Kim. Yes he is sorry, yes he has gone through more trauma than anyone else in the show. But, he also wants to help, to be actively involved in dealing with Tony. Takes the initiative when Pete is otherwise engaged 🙄.

He isn’t that *I’ll flinch at anything* broken guy but, *I’ll use my trauma to fuel my purpose* guy.

I love his confidence, and how he knows he can help.

Which is why it hurts seeing that no one except for Kim were worried for him. Allen the resident father figure literally said him being in the lab could be useful for us. What? R U SERIOUS?? 😠

Kenta doesn’t need rescuing as we all saw, but he is seriously outnumbered!

But first, the faces everyone are making after Pete’s dialogue is literally ‘are you for real???’

And Kim having to literally hold himself back from saying anything, but slipping out a side eye.

But, where or when did Kim start feeling things?

As they have such limited scenes, we all agree a lot of their development happened off screen.

So I’m writing my version of Kim developing feelings.

Earlier when Kenta says that

‘I only ever had two people in my life, and neither felt anything for me’ …

you can see Kim in a bit of a shock and confusion responding with ‘wait, what?’.

I think this is when Kim actually understood the depth of Kenta’s character. Until then, he was very casual in enquiring about Kenta’s feelings for Pete etc. He was caring, but in a friend/acquaintance kinda way. He knew Kenta did the best he can to help others to escape Tony (like trying to kill his immortal ass).

But this is when he realised just how Kenta grew up and what he sacrificed. Cz Kim is just some guy who got dragged in. And since Tony’s children are all around him, he may have assumed Kenta had people around while growing up.

And we noticed how he got significantly softer and more assertive in his care towards Kenta after this.

He slowly realised that kenta is actually a very caring person unlike his earlier ‘is force all you can use’ comment. Inset proof

But kissing Kenta seems to be a spur of the moment decision in a desperate attempt to keep him safe. I think thats when even Kim himself realised just how bad he wants Kenta to be safe and to be with him. And the ‘dont just think about Pete’ line was an icing on the cake. The response he got for everything he did are a very confused yet caring puppy eyes🥺

What if Kenta, the ONE guy Tony constantly overlooked and disregarded ends up getting THE most bada$$ sense after the inevitable experiment thats coming in the later eps.

Suddenly, Kenta is the favourite son like he always wanted. Pete is also showing interest and care now after realising Chis doesn’t (and will never) want anything but info from him.

But Kenta doesn’t want this attention from Tony & Pete anymore…

All he wants is, to use this new sense to protect the one person that truely and unconditionally loves him for himself.

I also want him to give Pete a piece of his mind, and call him out in front of everyone about being an absolute jerk to Kenta and always treating him like a tool.

And now that Pete realised Chris isn’t some Way replacement but, literally Tony’s son!!!! (What!???) is Pete still gonna hang on to that weird attraction he felt?

I want Pete to regret treating Kenta the way he did and maybe even get super duper jealous when he sees Kenta having eyes only for Kim when they finally go to save him cz he (with a saviour complex) thought Kenta would look at him like he always has. (In my head Pete joins the rescue only to witness the kiss 🤭)

Call me petty but, I want to hear his heart shattering when he sees them KISS after the rescue! In broad daylight and in front of everyone unlike his shady business with Chris. I want him to regret all his decisions after realising that Kenta has moved on with an amazingly caring person like Kim (unlike his distant a55 who has nothing to offer).

Do I think they will show this in the following episodes…. NOPE. But I’m sure our fanfic writers out there are already working on this for all of us! 🩵
